Will Scola go to Europe again? How much do we need to pay him for an extension?

it's better to trade scola right now than to let him walk two years later,or even earlier.Except Yao , no other international roster pays more attention to the fame than money.scola is capable yet troublesome, artest may be a trouble maker somoetimes, but luis has been bringing troubles continously .If I were morey,as i said before,i would trade scola plus bjax plus aron for artest.I think a potential youngster and an expiring contract and a Fiba star as a package is more attrctive than odom,as Kings haven't seen the fact that scola is a trouble maker more than a contributing roster.

It's pretty amazing pay cut. If he is making $3 million, most if it will be taxed at 40% for FICA. He gets about $1.8 million after taxes and excluding buyout money and the shoe contract. Nachbar is making $8 million tax-free this season. Nachbar makes more than DOUBLE Scola's! More than triple Scola's salary! More than quadruple Scola's Salary! If the Euro keeps going up this year, it could be more than 4.5 times Scola's current net pay! That's before considering his endorsement contracts in Europe. He would be a a superstar again and could be making $10 million tax free easily.

He just dumped everything and his agent got in a public battle with the Spurs management, just so he could be traded to a team that would give him a paycut and bring him to the NBA. It's amazing how much money Luis Scola gave up to come to the USA. Especially seeing most NBA players will always leave their teams for another team, if they get a larger offer.

His life long dream is to play in the NBA, why would he want to come back because he won almost everything there.

    No, this is nonsense.

I miss read the original post. I thought Boki was getting $9 million dollars a year. LOL. Boki is geting $9 million Euros, or $14 million for 3 years total not each year. Boki is making about $4.7 mil a year. That's still more than double Scola's net salary.

What are you talking about?! What trouble has Scola ever caused? And what do you mean about him paying attention to fame? Scola is nothing but a hard working, hard nosed player. Your comment doesn't even begin to make any sense...

One of the worst posts I've ever read. You are totally off base.

I see you been writing sarcastic post after post lately. Maybe you are still thinking that it is funny. But this kind of things get old in a hurry. The first time reading it might have been funny. After the 3rd or 4th time, it is very getting boring. Please stop.

Research has confirmed that, despite popular opinion, that money does not equate to happiness. The bottom line isn't always the dollar sign (or, in this case, the sign of the euro).

Scola loves the city, loves the fans, loves the team. He's happy here. Can he be equally happy elsewhere? I don't know. However, I think that its important to see how he develops over the next couple of seasons before we get into this talk.

... its exactly this kind of attitude that got Mo Taylor and Brice Drew their bloated, good-for-nothing, contracts.

I know Scola values NBA and the city more than money. However, as I know, Scola had not made too much money in Europe and he's not making too much now either. As a humanbeing, as a father of several kids, Scola has a family to feed and he will sure look for money after he finishes the contract here.

If he can produce consistently, I think he will, I'd say give him 7M per for another 3 yearsor or full mid-level money for another 4 years (like Posey). If he want more, I dout we can offer him as we may want to keep T-MAC or take another super star.

Anyway, I hope we could get 1 title in the next two seasons and everything will be ok.

It looks like that Landry gone in 2 months is more likely now. So we better do something to lock up Luis if possible.

If Luis can steadily put up something like 15/7 next season, Rockets should seriously consider an early contract extension( is that allowed in NBA?). I think he deserve a 24m/3years or 30m/4years contract. Now his salary is less than Alston and Jackson!

It is not allowed. That would be illegal.

Scola is not on a rookie deal, i understand that after 2 years we can offer him a extension using early bird rights. Why is not legal?

I think a 3 year 15/20 millions would do it.

He will be gonna return to europe sooner or later.to an international roster except yao,the championship is always not as attractive as money.so it's a good choice for scola to go back to europe to earn more money while for morey it's a smart decision to trade him before he slips .letting him walk means rockets will lose a fortune ,which morey knows clearly.

To be honest i want to retain scola too,but our hopes will never down the eu's value.i suggest frankly that morey trade scola for some guy loyal to our team .

All these points of yours are based on speculation. There is no evidence despite your repeated claims that he is a troublemaker or is not loyal to the team. The reports of him considering to go back to Europe are invalid. He could get better offers from Europe but he has 2 more years left on his contract. His situation is not like Navarro's. He has not whined about his role like V-Span,in fact he didn't mind coming off the bench when Hayes was the starter. I'm not against trading anyone if it helps the team but blaming Luis is incorrect.
