If today's Republicans had been in power when smallpox vaccines were made available, smallpox would still exist today.

It's really amazing..... After having all these "catastrophic successes" in public health in the 20th century..... we are going to go back to the 19th century.

Don't swim in a pool unless you've got an up-to-date polio vaccination!

Smallpox will come back next....just watch

I'd like to think those people are that clever.

Those people are obviously not that clever.

At this point just hoping the herd immunity hammer kills enough of these moron antivaxxers so that they don't reproduce and we can flush them down the toilet in my lifetime.

I don't want kids to get whooping cough and measles. They'll die! But if we have a society where ****ing idiots create measles outbreaks and kids will die, Id rather it be theirs than mine

It’s hard to imagine a worse person to lead our Health Department. He “doesn’t know” if polio vaccines are a net positive for public health. Total crank.

How exactly did polio vaccines kill people at this high degree?

In fairness to him, the tweet is misleading (sigh). He didn’t directly say the polio vaccine killed all those people, but rather linked it to carcinogenic substances and he said cancer has killed more people than polio. Then he used that to cast doubt on whether the polio vaccine has been a net positive. It’s still bullshit reasoning.

You know I admire your intellect and character.

But I would point out that the cohort of people who might be misled (anti vax/maga morons) are not particularly interested in evidence, facts or credibility. So misleading them toward something healthy and positive might be the only way to reach them. Those idiots are certainly happy to be misled by ol Donald on just about everything.
