The 37" Aquous I bought in Jan for $3400 is now $2999, so its slowly moving downward.

    Dude those are cool TVs.

When the federal law mandating that all televison broadcasts must be digital is implemented (2007 but I thought I read congress moved it up) There will be a huge surge in demand for digital televisions for people who have to upgrade or buy analog coverters (why would you do that?). The efficiancy of scale effect should bring down the price of the new television technologies.

A year or so ago I bought a $700 Sony HD capable with a 32" 4:3 screen as an iterim solution till the big boys come down.

I bought a Sylvania 20" LCD HDTV ready monitor for about $450 for my bedroom..It freakin rocks...Now, if you want the a DLP, etc, it'll cost you some dough, but I've seen some some bigger projection screens that are HDTV ready for about $1300 - $2000, but you have to catch a sale at Best Buy or Circuit City...

Expensive, but worth it. I never thought I would say it, but now I have a hard time watching a non high def show. It's one of those things that is a real eye opener. It's like being blind and then suddenly you are given vision. Every show becomes a lot more interesting. Anyone who buys in will be glad they did it.

If you look around enough online you can get the Sony 50' LCD projection for $1700. I hear is an awesome TV. Stay away from Best Buy and CC...they will rip you off. Plan on picking one up as soon as I move into my house.

With all the talk of Plasma having half the life of other TV's, >$2k ain't worth it to me. I hear more and more often that LCDs seem to be much more reliable. Or buy a cheaper (and proven) rear projection TV until all this Plasma, LCD,DLP,etc thing runs its course. They're half the cost and twice the screen size.

    of course they're coming down.

I spent oer $4000 on an HDTV a year ago, and that same model is going for only $2500 now.

    slowly but surely.

I'm gonna hold out for OLED. Plasma, LCD, and OLED will become extinct as OLED takes over.

I have 2 HDTV's......both bought at Best Buy. I went with Westinghouse, as they are the cheapest, but the same level of quality.

They are a new brand (well actually an old one) and the 32" LCD HDTV is $1500, and the 37" LCD HDTV is $2300, both hang on the wall and look OUTSTANDING...

LCD is the way to go.....I hooked up my PC to it for giggles and it was pretty cool.

I got the 32" too. I am waiting a few more years so I can get a 50" LCD for under 1000 bucks. :D

Well Drew, if you buy one, then that will cause demand to go down, which in turn will cause the price to go down...

What are you waiting for? Spend, spend, spend!!

IIRC, I thought in August some company was gonna release something new (sorry about being so vague), and that this may drive prices down for current models....I wonder if RC Cola could comment on this.

Yeah the jump from 32 to 37 is as substantial as the jump from 37 to 42.

There is a Phillips 30" integrated HDTV at Best Buy for $799. Is that a pretty good deal. How big do I need? My new pad is pretty small.
