The reason why world records are falling like dominos (not just by Phelps but pretty much in nearly every single race) is the fact that the Beijing pool is designed to be incredibly fast.

It's deeper and wider than most pools. Combine that with the new suits and you've got records

That's destiny right there, no other explanation. No WR was broken this race.

I didn't even know you could build a pool for speed. I guess I don't swim enough for it to occur to me that shallow water "beats up" on someone...that's pretty interesting.

the juicers always stay ahead of the enforcers. if you've ever read Game of Shadows, its enough to rob you of your faith in the Olympics. Track and field is the worst of all.

that being said, I hope he's clean. Also, im one of the people who thought he couldnt get all gold, but medal in all, but I did hope he could somehow miraculously do it. but that race tonight was just....  wow. I really hope he does it.

I think if I get in my vote for "yes" right about now, I can look cool when he finally gets all 8 golds.

I heard the suits costs like 3M dollars

I was watching the news last night, but I forgot if they really said "3 million"

Well when a guy is clearly dominating all of his opponnents in a sport, where you can improve a whole lot through doping (either increasing your ability in the race itself or being able to train for much longer times and reducing the chance to injure yourself doing so), which isn`t even able to be detected at this time, I think you at least have to consider it...

That being said I´m still a romantic sports guy and just hope he`s clean. It`s incredible what he is doing!

Wow, that was a compelling race. I happened upon it live, and definitely glad I didn't change the channel. You have to think this is destiny in the making here when he wins by that little.

Is it just me, or does the super slow motion replay seem to indicate that the other fellow might have won the 100m butterfly

I've seen it 5 times, and every time it looks like Phelps is being touched out!

And, once again, you are proving to be quite the idiot, period.

The difference is that you try to start trouble.

Quit trying to stir up animosity, loser.

I love phelps and he is dominating, but all of the events that he is winning are fairly similar.. 200 fly 100 fly 400im 200im 200 free, if he tried to swim something outside of that like sprinting or long distance or breastroke or backstroke, he would probably be the one getting dominated.

usa swimming is super super clean.. they have the strictest tests imaginable, injury is not really a factor in swimming so that is not a reason to dope, not sure hgh would really help with swimming, and these kids are never in a position where they would even be approached with steroids

a ton of world records get broken every olympics, It is because the sport is evolving. 20 years ago there werent near as many kids starting year round competitive swimming at 7 years old, the training methods have really improved. It is not because of drugs

I think it was so close that it's just hard for some people to tell. If you watch and keep watching and analyzing then you will see Phelps use that last stroke to touch the wall just barely before the other guy.
