We'll get him, 'cuz NY has a lot on its plate right now, and with Felton coming in there is not much space for three "starting" point guards (assuming Felton, Kidd& Lin aren't very happy with backup - less than 20 minutes role)

Jersey sale will go through the roof (in Asia of course), maybe I'll buy one too

Match and trade to Charlotte after Jan 15 to get a first round pick.

It's closer to hurt pride than anger. It's a business, the guy used the RFA rules to make more money, whereas they were trying to use the "right to match" to pay less money....

Either way they're not happy with Lin.

I bet Grunwald is trying to convince Dolan to match, I hope Dolan sticks with "f*** you it's my team".

What OremLK described wasb't just business. It's closer to Carlos Boozer underhandedness.

For those that were curious, yes this thread was left open because it is polling the general sentiment of the forum as to the end result of this little drama.

as for my personal opinion, Im torn.

The part of me that looks at the value of a contract wants the Knicks to match, but the part of me that sees the sorry excuse for point guards on the Rockets right now hopes they don't.

I think Lin is a decent player right now, and he might actually end up a pretty good player but I would have preferred keeping Dragic at this point in time.

The Knicks are just waiting till the last minute to get every amount of media attention and to stick it to the Rockets. Either way I am fine with whatever happens. Then it is on to Omer and see how the Bulls react and decide on the offer sheet.

I still think they match. I know it seems crazy given the recent reports, and if Felton is going to be there, but I really see Lin playing SG.

They're still looking at two years at fair value and only one in the red. I think they're pissed at Morey for reneging on the original deal, and responded with the petty antics to hold up the Dwight talks.

I wouldn't be surprised either way.

    Plus Felton's 4mil.

And assuming they sign their next 2 year's 1st round and second round picks(if they have any)
    3mil in total.

    Plus Shumpert's 3mil

    10 players, 80 mil.

SG is JR Smith, plus you do not want Kobe/Lebron and Wade to be guarding you, or other more athletic guards. As for matching, I think if the Knicks wanted to match, they could of done it by now, why go to all this drama and rumors. With the recent trouble of J.Kidd, they made have to swallow the poison. Whichever way it goes, Morey probaly won't be working for the Knicks for a while.

The 4 reasons why the Knicks will match:

    1) The media/marketing love. I live in New York. Linsanity was crazy here. It's the best thing that happened to the Knicks since seconds before Hakeem blocked Starks' shot. Dolan knows that, and I can't imagine he'd give it up.

    2) The crushing pressure from the fan-base. In the next 36 hours they'll be hearing more and more "Save Jeremy!" petitions and this could make them to blink.

    3) A lot can happen before Year 3. Yes, it looks bleak now, but they can probably figure out a way to re-structure one of their big four contracts before 2013-2014 to give them wiggle room. If you're the Knicks, why wouldn't you at least have Lin for this year and maybe next year, avoid the PR meltdown of losing him now, and then try to trade him in worst case scenario?

    Most importantly...

    4) I'm in super-geek-out mode and really, really want us to sign Lin, and God hates me.

Teams use 2 SGs. Smith will spend time at SF and SG, while Lin would spend time at PG & SG. Knicks could also run small at times like the Heat did.

Teams usually wait to decide, unless they have other moves depending on their decision. They gain nothing by matching or declining immediately, but help the Rockets, and allow the Rockets to move on to other matters. For all you know, the Rockets might have gone after Felton if the Knicks immediately matched.

thats one painful way of looking at it...By trying to screw the Rockets...they are really screwing themselves...

The bigger issue is that Melo doesn't want to share the spot light with Lin...his comments about Lin during the entire offseason is quite telling...there really hasnt been much support or backing by Melo, Amare, or Chandler...

Shoulda made the contract like this:

    1st year - .5 mil
    2nd year - .5 mil
    3rd year - 23 mil

    LOL
