What are you talking about? Dale Davis is getting payed more than 10 million this year and averages 2.8 ppg and 4.2 rbg. He won't be any kind of "presence" next to Yao. The only reason to do it, again, would be to dump Taylor's contract. So why would GS ever do that when they get some cap relief when Davis' contract runs out?
And d*mn, didn't someone say we could have had Jordan?! And and ... I heard that we could have picked up Havlicek. What were we thinking? we suck
Dale Davis is stuck on the GS bench, therefore his numbers look like that. That has no bearing on whether he would work as a PF next to Yao for this year. Dale Davis is a terrific rebounder and a solid low post defender, two things Mo Taylor and Juwan Howard don't have going for them. The only thing Davis doesn't do well defensively is block shots, but he is a better fit for the Rockets at PF this year, with Juwan coming in for offense during stretches. Secondly, of course the other purpose of this deal would be to get out of Taylor's contract, that's why it's so beneficial to try and pursue it. Lastly, as far as Golden State goes, who knows, but that is the same franchise that signed Adonal Foyle to a contract that will pay him 9 million dollars over the next few years, not to mention the Derek Fisher contract. Anything is possible when dealing with them.
IIRC there was a rumor about trading sampson for the draft pick that would've turned out to be MJ. we shouldve done that. but then again no body could've seen sampsons injury comming, and you don't trade a 7'4 version of garnett for a draft pick. ::sigh:: dream and MJ would've won us about 11 championships.
I thought the offer was Clyde and the 1984 Blazers first round pick (ie Jordan) for Sampson. That would have been a dynasty like no other.
