Will Morey's prediction be proven right, or proven wrong?

I think they'll end up winning 55+ games, unless there is some long-lasting injury to LeBron or Wade.

Perhaps the 45-win prediction was for the scenario in which its only Wade and Bosh. I don't know of anyone with a statistical bent who thinks a team with that trio would win so few games.

 

Are we sure he meant all three together or just Wade and Bosh? I agree Wade and Bosh just 45 wins would have been produced. With all three its more like 55 to high 60's more likely.

Lebron took a team of scrubs to 60+ wins every year

Wade led his team of scrubs to 47 wins last season

Bosh led his team of scrubs to 49 wins when they made the playoffs that one year.

People are going to bring up "chemistry" issues and say they will fail because theres only 1 basketball, but at the end of the day its bull****

I said wrong (at least 60 wins) even though it's very hard, almost impossible, to go against Morey. But I mean obviously a GM isn't gonna tell his top target he's going to win 60 if he goes to a diff team. Nobody in their right mind can think that trio is barely going to be better than the rockets last season.

 

I like Morey, but he was using the worst case scenario.

Theres going to be good players who will want to play with these guys for a ring, not a roster of "9 no-name scrubs".

Hell even Vegas has Miami winning the East.

 

Morey is never wrong. He and wrongness (is that a word?) are like night and day - mutually exclusive.

That said, I voted his prediction would be proven wrong... :grin:

Eh, he was just saying that to convince Bosh. No way Miami wins less than 45. I don't think they'll win a championship this year, but they'll win plenty of regular season games, probably more than the Rockets.

i think his calculations assumed that they would all take the full max and have no one around them.

as it turns out, they each took about $2M less for a total of $6M to spend on role players. and im sure he didnt predict dumping beasley and landing mike miller. these extra role players can account for maybe 10 more wins depending on who they get. shaq and derek fisher might be pretty interesting.

 

Wait, do people actually think Morey believed what he said when came up with 45 wins for the trio? They could win 60 games by dragging in the best players from the closest YMCA to fill in the remaining roster spots.

He said nothing inherent about the 3 players' ability to play with one another, he simply calculated no other significant contributors to the team

Now we know that Lebron has been recruiting Mike Miller, and Riley, Wade and Bosh have each been recruiting players they know.

Each player is also taking millions less opening up salary for 2 more decent players.

This team is going to win 60+ games and will have a stranglehold on the eastern conference. I'm no bandwagoner I dont even like Lebron but this team is going to be sick and the rest of the league will be playing catchup

 

It would no doubt be 45 to 50 in the western conference, but the east is there for the pickings. Lebron and Wade alone dominated it for the last decade on their teams and now together they might hit 60 before everyone figures out the team's weakness.

 

I think the over / under is 60 wins if they stay relatively healthy.
