With the Rockets luck this past year (injuries, the draft night debacle, etc.), I’ve come to expect the worst. Some team will probably come in out of nowhere and come up with a sign-and-trade deal that the Raptors like. James will go to whichever team will give him the most money. I’m almost certain of that.

Well, the poll's going about the way I would've guessed. Funny how it's mirroring the poll I had on the Texan's site, regarding whether or not they would draft Bush.

I'm serious when I say that I'm getting a bad feeling. The longer this takes & the drier the free agent pool gets, the more teams that'll get involved.

How long before Boston gives up on it's pursuit of Iverson & focuses on MJ?

How about the Spurs? They always seem to slide in from out of no where & pick up a prized FA.

Denver is in need of a SG. Will they make a run at him?

How long will Orlando wait on Stevenson before they look elsewhere?

Why are we waiting until Thursday to start talking? Get off your dead a**es & get something going NOW!!!

I hate to be the pessimist, but I agree with hottoddie. I've felt that all along Mike James was using his interest in the rockets as a bargaining chip and now that he's got multiple suitors its working well in his favor. He may end up being able to force a sign n trade when his perceived value increases to a point where colangelo has to listen.

and at that point, our measly 4.2 mill te isn't going to cut the mustard.

    Latest from Dallas today...

Fort Worth Star-Telegram (registration required): "Duffy said that because all the teams pursuing James are over the salary cap, a sign-and-trade scenario is a possibility. The Mavs are willing to offer Marquis Daniels in such a deal, but the Raptors might not want Daniels and the $26.46 million remaining on his contract."

I would want Head over Daniels any day of the week. Daniels makes more and it would makes sense to get more value for your money.

    I'll bet you on that.

First of all the Rockets are NOT a bad team. They were just murdered by injuries last year. TMac, Yao, Sura most notably. No team in the NBA will win many games without 3 of their best players missing at random times in the season. If Yao and Tracy stay healthy, adding Battier and James then we are in instant playoff team.

Second James lives in Houston, wants to play here, and won't get significantly more money anywhere else. The only possibility was Atlanta who just signed Speedy Claxton and are a young team so James is probably not an option there any more.

Between Houston and Dallas I don't see there being much of a decision. Of course Dallas wants him. WHY? Probably mostly b/c they don't want US to have him. Don't think they don't remember us stretching them to 7 games year before last when we had MJ. They know if we get him we'll be right back on their ass.

MJ will get the most PT here, knows the system, coaches, and players here ,and LIVES here.

Take my word, come July 12th, Mike James will be a Rocket. Shane Battier will be a Rocket, and I have a feeling that someone else (either through the Memphis deal or FA) will be a Rocket. As quiet as the Rockets have been about this trade, I think there is something else they aren't leaking...

I've suggested this before but we could package Head with our expirings (Deke and Bowen) in a SnT. Or a re-signed Wesley or Bogans.

Head, Bowen and Deke's salaries add up to $4,257,767. That times 125% plus 100,000 equals 5,422,208.75. It could also be subject to annual 10.5% raises as opposed to 8.5%.

Why would the Rapts take on a 26.46M salary for Marquis Daniels, I'd rather just keep Mike James and sign him to a 3 year 8M deal. I don't see Toronto doing a SnT for that. MJ definitely has value so I see other teams getting involved in trying to sign him. If a deal isn't done with the Rox by the end of this week, the likelihood is he won't be playing in Houston next year.

You freaking idiot where is he gonna get a bigger payday the roxs have just as much to offer as any one else that wants him! Gosh think your post through the only chance he can get payed more is in a sign trade and that wouldnt have any thing to do with him talking the rockets up! You just dont like james or your a pesimist and that why you made that post! I gurantee you if you had to put your life on what team james would sign with the rox are the most logical answer!

Best case scenario would be to do a sign and trade for James giving away a 2rd draft pick and then split the MLE on two descent free agents preferably a big SG and a banger. This team needs some quality bodies and by adding one top tier free agent and 2 middle of the road free agents without giving up much would be a tremendous coup.

No, you're the freaking idiot! I'll take RocksMillenium's post over your's anyday.

However, in answer to your question, he was referring to using the Rockets as leverage, to cause another team to offer Toronto what they want, to do a S&T. Why don't you try thinking your post through next time.
