Actually I think Nikki is better than Paris.
She's prettier and is not such a ho.

Are you out of your mind? Hakeem is a legend. TMac isn't half the player Hakeem was. That kind of question is just plain ludicrous.

Hakeem, even though he was Nigerian, was an indigenous Houstonian. He went from a raw teenaged nobody to to a world champion, top 10 all timer right before our very eyes. He was the embodiment of the Houston 'mytique' that anyone can come to Houston and with enough will power and work can succeed beyond their wildest dreams.

Now I love watching Tracy play but he is just an NBA mercenary. Frankly he may have been able to achieve Hakeem's mythical status as a Hometown Hero had he stayed in Orlando and brought them mutiple championships. Even if he had I still don't think being a hero in Orlando carries the cache of being a hero in Texas, in Houston. You know they don't have an Alamo, or a Howard Hughes or produce president's or even have an Enron like Texas and Houston. We are sort of the land of the the giants.

As for going to Toronto, I think it adds to Dreams myth, like the old fighter who has given everthing he has to give. We all want to put him out to pasture but refuses to get out of the game until he is killed. It's like his Rocky 7.

No. I don't think you understand how truly extraordinary Dream was.

I think most fans would agree that we hope T-Mac becomes the greatest Rocket ever, and we all get to watch it happen. Of course, we want that. Who doesn't want to witness greatness, especially on our own team. Who wouldn't want the Rockets to rise to new heights.

But, what is being pointed out is that it's unlikely that will happen. McGrady would have to finish his career with a Jordan-like resume, becuse Hakeem is one of the NBA's all-time greats.

It could happen. I hope it does. Just don't think it will.

Faos, I hear ya. But you are getting a hard time because your poll kinda disrespects Hakeem's legacy.

Tmac must EARN it! Just like Hakeem did. :)

Man, I don't care if I get a hard time. I like both players.

TMac may not have EARNED it, but he's EARNING it.

    :)

Good point. This is very possible! TMac has the "IT FACTOR." And so does Yao. That's going to be a very big factor in how TMac and Yao are viewed by the rest of the nation (world).

Akeem wasn't very popular early on because he had to compete in the media with Bird/Karrem/Bird/Jordans, etc...Akeem was an enigma for a long time. He was very popular in Houston. But NOT nationally. Even after he won his 1st ring he wasn't very popular nationally -- they didn't take him seriously. His 2nd ring really put Hakeem over the top!

Tmac and Yao have a head start in popularity factor. And they haven't even won a title yet. I say, YET! :)

Why bump this thread? It's unfair to both Hakeem and Tracy - no need to bring up divisive topics like this on a night like tonight. I say lock it.

I don't know about best ever, but the guy is Jordanesque in his ability to score. Absolutely amazing.

Raplh Sampson was not exactly role player. He scored the winning shoot, if I am not mistaken. Oh, yes, I watched Dream since he was NBA player. For long time rockets fans, we most likely would vote Dream, but it is 2005 now, and T-Mac give us all the excitment...So I can understand some of the BBSers voted for T-Mac. :D

No doubt Tracey will be one of the greatest Rockets ever. But remember Hakeem brought Houston it's first championship almost exclusively on his shoulders alone and with the help of his closest friend (Clyde Drexler) brought Houston it's second championship. When Tracey wins League MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, wins an NBA championship and Finals MVP all in the same year without another allstar on the team with him, then he can be mentioned in the same breadth. Till then let's say he's the second best Rocket ever..........
