Of course. You want to keep the right to have the MLE through a S&T for Melo. You only trade them (especially Lin when you'll have to give up assets to dump him) when you have assurances from the FA. Much like the Royce White deal last year.

Most likely yes. Morey doesn't need to clear cap room until he gets a free agent to commit.

I posted this somewhere else but I'm thinking Asik is gone tomorrow. Either for pieces that may entice Minnesota or a future pick. Or he could be used to move to draft Dario Saric. Saric could help us in two ways. 1) he won't give us a cap hit for this season 2) He could be used as a major piece in a trade.

Yes to Asik, maybe for Lin. If they can find anyone to take Lin, I'm sure they will do it. I'd offer Dallas Lin + our 1st rd pick to get him out of here.

Asik is probably getting traded for picks where as Lin will be traded with picks. If they are here after the draft, it will probably be harder to move Lin.

Neither of them are going anywhere unless they are part of a major piece coming in.

Just to valuable as poker chips. Phil Jackson knows what he's getting I think. (If NY.)

Interior defense and the prodigal son returns ! as a very hot marketing commodity.

    I didn't say a very good one.

I hope so. It would mean morey has a hush hush agreement with a highly sought after player.

Morey might make a trade "in principle" with Lin that won't be consummated until the moratorium, keeping the S&T option open. Asik won't be traded.
