Hey I say lets get him because I really dont care about a luxury tax and Les shouldn't either; were talking about signing the closest thing to Michael Jordan (KOBE). The pockets should become very generous because every other team will be trying to figure out a way to get him on their roster so why shouldnt we.

As much as the Rockets would want, and could use, Kobe Bryant on the court with Yao and Francis, it just won't happen. Kobe is way too expensive, and he takes a lot of pride in how expensive he is. Two, when Kobe was drafted, he opted to be traded to Los Angeles because he wanted to be in a big, cosmopolitan city where he could market himself endlessly. Houston is a great city, but it's not LA (and much better off for that reason). I see Kobe going to a city like New York or or Miami, or maybe his home town Phiadelphia. If he were to stretch it and compromise, at worst, I could see him in Seattle or Chicago. Actually Chicago would be a nice place for him, since he wants to be like Mike anway--and he'd get to play with Scottie Pippen. Or he could go to the Clippers and be able to stay in LA.

The Rockets WOULD make sense for Kobe, because they already are a great team, and were he to join, he'd still be in the playoff mix. WIth him on the team, the Rockets would be a title contender. But the financial and perhaps geographical logistics just wouldn't work.

David Aldridge just wrote an interesting article on how Kobe should be traded for T-Mac. FOr the following reasons:

    1. Florida would be a nice change of pace for Kobe
    2. T-Mac wants out of the East--REAL BAD
    3. T-Mac and Shaq are really, really, really good friends
    4. Both T-Mac and Kobe play the same position--and they're both IT players, which means LA will get someone just as good (if not better)
    5. T-Mac and Kobe have the same salary: 13.5 million dollars. So, financially, it would be a quick, easy transition for the Lakers
    6. Kobe would go to a team with a decent supporting cast--and he wants to try to be the IT player of the team.
    7. T-Mac has been there, done that. He's TIRED of being the IT player, carrying the entire team through to the playoffs only to be swatted out of the first round. He's salivating for an elite, all-star supporting cast like the Lakers. He has the numbers. He knows he can jack up 40, 50 points whenever, wherever, but he's been there, done that. He wants to be on a team that can get past the first round. He wants to be on a team that will the ring.

I think Aldridge offers up a great solution to the Kobe-Shaq fiasco. If LA and Orlando are smart, they'll do the trade. Neither franchise loses anything--in talent and money--and can only gain by having a player with a personality that more suits the palate of the other franchise.

As unselfish as Yao is, as complimentary he would be to Kobe, I just don't see these two together. One, Kobe and Francis would piss each other off at some point. Two, Kobe might not the overbearing Do-what-I-say mentality of Van Gundy, and Van Gundy might not like this diva-esque arrogance. Three, Yao is so unseflish on the court, that Kobe would take advantage of that, and the result would be a Kobeocracy, instead of the bi-polar balance of power steadily maintained between Yao and Francis. Four, Kobe is not a team-guy off the court. THe ROckets, more than most teams, are real buddy. It's a team with players who are sincere and have a lot of heart--for the most part. They dig each other, are their for each other, joke around, and believe teammate and friend to be synonymous. Kobe is a loner and a superstar--bad, bad, bad combination. The total opposite of Francis, who is really personable, as well as Yao.

Five: I hate Kobe Bryant. The Rockets are a team of class and maturity. He has skills, but he whines and b****es and moans and causes strive among the team. Hakeem would have "b****" slapped Kobe right off the bat. Charles Barkeley would have done the same, as well as Clyde. Kobe's whiny attitude may be tolerable and perhaps even fitting for the Lakers. But not the Rox.

if kobe decides to leave the fake show, he's going to play for the knicks, the so-called mecca of basketball, or bobcats($$$$). why would he want to play for the rockets? so that he can win championships? in that case, he can join the spurs.

He's guilty. Vaginal tearing is just damn hard to play off. Her blood on his shirt is damn hard to explain. These are just a couple of the facts. Let me say that again. Facts. Kobe is going to be the best 2 man in the colorado penal league. I don't want him. Period.

It a fun idea to think about, Kobe in a Rockets team.

I for one would hope he would love to stick it to Shaq by helping Yao become a force. What Rockets fan wouldnt love to hear Kobe say "Yao is the most tallented center Ive ever played alongside."

Still.....I would be surprised if it happened.

I think it would be the best move for Bryant though. :D

OMG, you should have saved that one!!!!

    LMAO!!!!

Really, what is that suppose to say, Koby is a body builder and will win the next "Mr. Universe?"

Or that he will carry the team and not Shaq?

Yeah, tell that to Shaq, I dare you!!!!

You went way to left on that one, and BTW, why would I spend time on a bias, pro Laker site to get an understanding of Koby.

That is exactly my point, if you kenw how to handicap, games, teams and/or players, those are the last places you would spend time.

Do you know how to handicap a game, do you know what handicapping means?

I done with this conversation, you're cut off, due to the fact that you're obviously a bandwagon stat cruncher. Who probably thinks that regardless of what verdic comes from his trial, you feel Koby has done nothing wrong. Despite cheating on his wife who has bore his child.
