This entire kobe/shaq issue, is a farse...have any of you guys noticed that for the first time since the incident, kobe is not being asked about the rape trial, but about his fued with shaq...

somewhere in LA the majority of this team is sitting at someone's mansion lauging it all up at how easily everyone has been fooled...and now you guys think kobe's coming to houston?

I usually dont give phil jackson a lot of credit, but chances are he is the mastermind behind all of this...

i thought this at first too but then i thought why would kobe bash shaq to the extent that he is, if shaq is actually helping him out by distracting the media. i think there is bad blood and luckliy for kobe it is all coming out at the perfect time.

anyone who loves yao simply cannot wish to have kobe on this team. we need old school type players who can make the most of yao's passing and overall bball intelligence, NOT a player who represents the worst of the new school (me, me, me).

btw, i'm sure shaq-kobe is a real fued, but some of you are right- phil is letting it go public because it is less stressfull than the rape line of questioning. every player has been on a team with guys that dont get along, but how many know how to deal with a constant barrage of rape/legal questioning??

Totally uncalled for. Stick to the topic and contribute about the rockets if your mind can even do that. Remarks like this make me wonder if you know how to use the ignore list. Simple. Put me on your ignore list. Thats what its there for.

The fact how many rocket fans would NOT want kobe shows the little knowledge about basketball on this board. If this thread ever gets out to other teams boards rocket fans will look rediculous for saying stuff like "francis+kobe+ming doesnt sound good".

First off, Shaq comes in camp fat. Thats what Kobe is mad at. He isnt mad at haveing a dominant center. He would love Ming. Shaq is a ballhog .Ming isnt . Kobe is a better passer than Steve and Mobley and anyone that doesnt think so needs to get another hobby than chatting about basketball.

Im almost to the point of cut.paste this thread over at lakersground just to see the reaction . I think it would be funny. Kobe doesnt want to be the only star. All he asks is for shaq to be in shape and shaq cant do that. Is Ming in shape ? Would Ming find Kobe open? Shaq cant do this.

Im not sure of many things in life but if there is one thing im damn sure of its that the Lakers would not trade Kobe for anyone other than Steve Francis or Yao Ming. You are not going to trade Kobe for Cuttino Mobley. It aint gonna happen. Would I trade Francis for Kobe? from a buisness perspective, yes, absolutely, I take that risk, because I know this year the Toyota Center will be soldout every game and that I'll be a much richer man for it... but before I take that risk I get assurances from Kobe that he will sign an extension with the Rockets.

I think Kobe could end up in Sacremento for some reason or the Clips. I think he will stay in California.

If what you said is true, then Shaq is either
    A) A great leader who is sacrificing his own image to protect Kobe from being asked about the rape trial. (Yes, by throwing mud on Kobe's face publicly, Shaq is tarnishing his own image)

    Or

    B) A fool who is being used by Phil Jackson.

I wouldn't be surprise to see a Kobe for Iverson trade. Philly is Kobe's hometown.

    1. anyone that believe's kobe's bball skills would not benefit this team is an idiot.

    2. short of kobe, the best possible matches for yao would be either:
    a) vince carter
    -or-
    b) ray allen

both are unselfish, superior shooters, and have no desire to be "the man". they both are more than willing to defer to a system, and/or greater player.

    3. Another Brother is on the money. the best way to stick it to shaq would be to go help his competition; and while sacramento's team is more of a threat to shaq than the rockets are, yao ming is more of a threat to shaq's ego and legacy than vlade & brad miller are.

    edit:

i intentionally left a name off of the list of players that would complement yao ming well.... tracy mcgrady. why? because orlando has enough sense to not send tmac here, thus creating the greatest team in the history of the nba (seriously).

I really hate it when there are so many people who do not really understand this game and are interested in the Rox only because of Yao. They are talking like Kobe is the most selfish and undisplined basketball player on earth. They do not know the fact is just the opposite. Let me tell you something: if there is anyone today on this planet who understands how to win basketball games with a dominant center in the middle, that would be Kobe. His three consecutive championships playing along side one proves it.

To correct some of the other wrong conceptions: Kobe is old school and displined. He followed the coach's instruction every step of his game. He sacrificed his own game to meet the team needs and lead the Lakers in assists year after year. What does that mean? It means that he is NOT selfish. Kobe is the best all around player in the NBA. If the Rox are extremely lucky and get Kobe without losing Francis and Yao, you are looking at the next dynasty right there.

If you think the Lakers would trade Kobe for anyone, you are wrong. The only way Kobe gets traded is Kobe himself forces one. Even in that case the Lakers would only consider the best offers - there would be tons of offers around the league if that happened.

A maximum contract has been on the table for Kobe to sign for a while even with his legal situations. A new maximum ocntract will be presented to Kobe as soon as he opt out next summer.

i agree with everything you said except for one line:

that honor does not belong to kobe. it belongs to tmac (among guards).
