It doesn't rhyme, but it DOES sound similar. I think that Bruce Bowen gives people plenty of reason to hate the Spurs, but Tim Duncan is still a phenomenal player. The shots that he makes and his sheer dominance makes him a joy to watch. I won't ever root for him over the Rockets, but if the Rockets are out of it, go Tim Duncan!
yeah, i don't get it. lebron strikes me as a good guy. and the cavs aren't a natural rival to the rockets. no one expected them to beat the pistons (me included) but they did. i'll watch...and root for lebron and the cavs.
usually, i watch the finals, and most all of the playoffs, no matter what and don't just follow for a player, but i have to admit i tuned out a lot of the spurs/jazz series and didn't watch almost any of the first 2 pistons/cavs games. but after lebron put up 32/9/9 in game 3 i started watching that more and luckily was watching game 5 and then watched 6. if the pistons had made it, i would've probably started watching game 1 just to see if the pistons had a chance and then probably tuned it out like spurs/jazz. but now i probably will watch even if the spurs are killing just to see what lebron does, good or bad, just to see how he's coming along and to see any ridiculous plays. it helps that i've generally always liked lebron, so i didn't just jump on the bandwagon or anything (i was on the first time espn showed one of his high school games), but at this point he's just interesting if nothing else.
His off-the-court priorities are a little questionable (a little too fascinated with accumulating wealth), but he seems like he understands the game of basketball a lot more than other 22 year olds (and above) playing.
You could fault any paid multimillionaire for having similar priorities. Look no further than Jordan, and the enterprise he's established after his basketball career had ended. I do agree however that what a person puts as their top priority in life is indicative of the type of personality they truly possess. That said money as long as it's earned honestly is something I think almost all of us could use a little more of.
