Theoretically we could. That's why all these people still can't let the Posey thing go. But realistically, I don't think we would have signed JJ had we matched Posey's deal. The only reason JJ was signed was because we didn't have a solid starter at the 3. If we had Posey, you think we would still want JJ, especially in light of the signing of Pike? But I'm glad we have JJ. He is a better player than Posey in every aspect except speed and athleticism, which is not our biggest need.
would he have?? what were his numbers last in compared to JJ's numbers this year? i bet they are similar. and jackson costs less i believe.
We might have let KT go for nothing too, if we didn't trade him for Posey. I believe KT is making more than Posey.
Under Jerry West, Memphis realy new ewhat they were doing when they signed Posey. Unlike the Rockets they have carefully selewwcted each component of the Team to be complementary, each to be able to play the complete game.
Posey's improved stats this year still fial to explain howmuch money he got. He's still being overpaid. AND, he fit's one Memphis much better than he did or would have here, especialyl with their running game. Jackson, while slightly smaller and therefore somewhat mroe of a defensive liability at SF, is the better fit here - he shoots the 3 better and other than scoring, JJ and JP's per minute stats are relatively similar. I was the biggest Posey fan last year but matching that contract was a bad idea.
from Easy: After I finally decided Francis had to go, my second thought was JJ could leave as a result. It would be a comic injustice. After watching the Rockets the last few years JJ's just a breath of fresh air.
