Jordan Hill is the most athletic big man we have had since Dream. I for one would like to see Dream tutor this kid like Moses did with Dream. The sky is the limit for Hill. Morey needs to get Hakeem here ASAP to work with this kid and RA needs to give him as much time is possible. I am very excited about Hills potential.

I think Hill can easily be a 20 point / 12 Rebound / 2-3 blocks per game withwork and playing time.

Hill brings the energy and fire we lost with Landry.

16 points / 8 Rebounds / 1 block would be nice too, and he could bring a little more.

Yup, I'm stoked on this guy. He reminds me of a young Dream a little too but Hill tries to get too fancy sometimes. That is what made Dream great, he didn't know the game enough to be fancy at first so he just relied on his power.

From an asset value perspective, you definitely want to keep Hill's minutes up. No, not just for trade bait, but as a potential rotation player next year.

However, I wouldn't want to cut DA's minutes that much. Since he's a foreign player new to the league, I think he still has a bit of room for growth. As well, I think other teams would consider him a little more then a throw in if we continues to play him. If he doesn't play, then he just becomes filler in a trade.

Scola is the guy you'd want to play the least as you know what you're getting, he has stated he wants to stay here, and playing will only raise the possiblity of some other team giving him an offer we don't want to match. That said, you still play Scola because we don't tank.

Jeffiries is only good as an expiring contract, no need to play him.

Chuck doesn't have any value to any other team but us. Keep him in the starting lineup and play as needed.

    Hayes 20 min
    Scola 35 min
    Hill 20 min
    DA 15 min
    JJ 6 min

I think the should try starting him at center and give him 30 -35 minutes a game. He needs playing time to reach his potential. Give him as much as possible this year when we have zero percent chance of competing for a championship to pay dividends next year when we possibly do!!

Hill no hurry to score a lot. Just focus on rebound and defence then he will be guareenteed 10+ mins per game. They don't have a really physical big man to do that dirty work. He deserves that PT.

T For 3!!!, are those stats and measurements for amare and jordan hill for real? Is amare really 233 pounds or is that from his rookie year? If those are his measurements as of now, then I'm pretty excited about Hill.

Its good to see so many people excited, but give Hill time to prove himself more, which I hope he will. I think Adelman will give Hill steady minutes based on what he has done in the last two games. The situation of the game is whats going to determine whose playing time gets cut. If we are getting alot of scoring from our starters, then Andersen is going to get less minutes and Hill will play for defense and rebounding. If we need scoring then Andersen will be used because he can stretch the defense. If we need to make some big stops Jeffries may be used because he can block or alter shots. If Hill starts blocking shots then Jeffries will loose time. If Hill starts hitting mid range jumpers than Andersen will loose time.

... You think Andersen has "hit the ceiling" after half a season of spotty minutes?

Will Hill retain minutes? I'd say "yes," given this:

That's true. Hill is something in between of Andersen and Jeffries. But he has one thing special. He's doing pretty good in pick'n roll and a weak side defender. He may even be a better pick'n roll option than Scola. Let's see what can Hill do in coming days.

The odd man out in all these scenarios and observations is Chuck Hayes. He is a hard-working credit to the Rockets, but his time is almost done. I do not see him as being one of our 5 or 6 best big men. If Adelman does, IMO the Rockets are in a lot of trouble

    C = Yao, Andersen, Armstrong (?) -- all 6-11 or taller
PF = Scola, Hill -- both 6-9 or taller

The best player left when we draft is likely to be a C or a PF. Where does this leave Hayes?

Thats what I'm thinking. Plug him in the Landry role, just not as much minutes. Dont break up the 2nd unit too. Keep Andersen in with whats been a solid 2nd unit with Lowry, Hill, Budinger, Andersen...

Also Ariza coming back kinda messes things up with Jeffries. If Ariza or Battier are on the bench, they can both eat into Jeffries's time. I'd have Jeffries as a utility guy to spell any of the frontcourt spots or to spell Battier.

That said I wouldnt have any gripe if Jeffries took Andersen's role. Not like Andersen has impressed, and his defense is THAT bad.

Anderson could learn how to rebound or stand his ground?
In all seriousness though, whenever Anderson posts up, he always seems to rush his shot / moves, I think it’s a comfort level issue and with more experience / playing time (in the NBA) he will settle down. He has some good moves around the basket and is a descent shooter I would expect him to improve some next season. (not vastly, and not enough to become a starter)

As far as the playoffs go, I stand by what I said. “…it’s really important to get into the playoffs this year, and get these rookies a taste of the atmosphere and intensity. The experience gained from even a first round exit this year would be invaluable..”

Yea it may not happen, especially if we can’t string together some wins, but it should be our goal, win as many games as possible get into the playoffs.

    I agree.

Look at what Brooks did in the playoffs, think about the confidence it has gave him going into next season.

Chase or Hill having a big playoff game could be that push they need. You always hear about great players are made in the playoffs. Think about Rose vs Rondo last year, at that moment you knew these two were stud PGs. You can even go back years before when Wade would tear up the post season.

Last year for us it was Brooks, Lowry, Landry...and look what they have turned out to be. NOW saying that who knows if they would have just got better by default. But taking the champions to seven games did not hurt the team.

That's my point...he's going to have to have playing time to work on the things he needs to work on. And IMO we're waisting our time with him because he's about to be 30. I'd rather work with a 22 year old "project" over a 29 year old "project" because he has a chance to be around here for a longer period of time...plus the fact that Hill has a MUCH higher ceiling only seals the deal for me

Yea it would be nice to get our team that experience, but it's just not going to happen
