<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Asked about Rockets poor finishes, Harden twice cited his TOs, specifcally "trying to make a tight pass" and trying to "thread the needle."</p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/713403411924815872">March 25, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> This is precisely my main gripe on Harden's turnovers...the particular ones that are "pocket passes." Those are the killer TO's. Harden is being swarmed, there are too many arms and legs in the way and they tend to be "live ball" TOs that go the other way for fastbreak baskets. Just too damaging. If Harden cuts down on the pocket passes I think that will go a long way.
Pocket passes are fine when the guy is open. He did it judicously last year to great effect. He just lazily tries it now.
So wait...you're telling me that if Harden stops the difficult and lazy passes his TOs might go down? I was under the impression that it was an unchangeable...unfixable problem.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Overall, Harden's 4.6 TOs per game lead NBA. He was 5th among regulars per minute until past three games. Now only Westbrook averages more.</p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/713411789065617408">March 25, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Harden's probably gonna break the record, but part of the reason is his durability. He just plays way too long for too many games. Westbrook commits more turnovers per minute and he's a point guard, but since he's not playing as many minutes and games WB is safe.
#trackinghistory Media is tracking Curry & the Warriors as they chase history. Why aren't they following Harden as he chases history?
James is sitting at 348 TOs with 7 games left. He needs 19 to break Artis' record. 19/7 = 2.7 TOs/per game, well below his season average of 4.6 per game. I'm changing my prediction to "Yes - He will blow it out." C'mon, James. You've lead the league in TOs 3 of the past 4 years. You have the opportunity to set a record that won't be broken for a loooong time. We all believe in you!
Don't worry. If we somehow scrape into the 8th seed, the media will be over the matchup of the (likely-to-be) best team in history vs. the team with the most turnover-prone player in history. We'll only get four games of it, but they'll be efficient about packing the comparisons in, especially because of how the teams met last year. Hope for that 9th seed, everyone.
ESPN’s NBA Countdown to Show Every 3-Pointer Stephen Curry Has Made This Season Spoiler Does someone want to counter and make a video of every James Harden turnover? I take it back. DO NOT make a video. That **** will go viral in seconds.
