Allan Iverson, Lebron James, Paul Pierce and Michael Redd are all shooting guards. I think Cat's chances of making an allstar team would be slim to none

The best is to be a reserve, it is almost impossible to be a starter IMO.

There's always a chance with the coaches' pick, and considering that it's based on guards, forwards, and centers, not just shooting guards, point guards, etc. If the Magic go from a 21-win team to a team that's several games above .500 at the all star break, and Cat averages a line around 21ppg, 4-5rpg, 3apg on an uptempo Orlando team, he'll get a lot of consideration for the ASG. Wally World had a good year a few seasons ago and he made the team, though he probably wasn't the best player available. Redd made the team last year over LeBron, Marbury, and Arenas, who all put up better numbers. Ilgauskas made the team (that didn't need another C) over guys like Stackhouse, SAR, and Artest.

It could happen - he has a better chance this year than he probably ever had.

We should wait an see if Iverson and Kidd remain in the East. He will get more votes than all but perhaps Iverson, James, and maybe Kidd (assuming Carter is a SF). He certainly will get more votes than Marbury (less likeable), Redd, or Rip.

I would think without a doubt either Marbury or Francis if not both would be selected by coaches if not voted in, the East team would want some point guards besides Kidd. Billips deserves mention too.

IMO odds are SF is in the all-star game next year one way or the other.

Francis' time in the sun is fading fast. Not just because of his conduct during the trade situation. He hasn't been that special a player. Just like Starbury called him out a couple years back yelling, "I'm the real All Star!" during the middle of a game, people just know. Besides, when you have Yao as a teammate, fans pay attention. But people will forget about him once he's in Orlando.

Even though he got more votes than those Eastern Conference guards last year, that was because he was in the Western Conference where there aren't as many flashy guards. Flash generally gets fan votes.

It'll be Lebron, Iverson, Marbury, Kidd, and Francis. Lebron because he's become Lebron. Iverson cause he's got street cred. Marbury because he's got the support of all those loyal NY fans. Kidd because he's earned it.

Among coaches, Francis will get snubbed like he always does for the Olympic team.

Lebron is undoubtably going to be a starter in next years ASG for the east.

Jason Kidd and AI traditionally get voted in. Francis should give them a run for their money but methinks Francis' best opportunity t make the ASG is via the dunk context or at best a a coaches selection for the AS east team.
