I think EG will respond to a new coaching style with a defensive minded guy like JVG. Eddie and Yao will be the Great Wall in Houston on the defensive end and I think EG will improve in the post this year. He showed flashes of it toward the end of last season, and the third year is the breakout year for most good to above average players. Has anyone else noticed that Eddie consistently outruns everyone on the fast break but nobody ever passes the ball up? I can't count the number of times that I thought "if (enter guard's name) would have passed to Eddie, that would have been a dunk."
Yao will be a great center, I think more like Kareem Jabar ( a finesse center ) and he won't be able cover a weak PF. Even Shaq hasn't been able to cover for Horry, forever. They'll be out shopping also. Too many powerful PF's in the West to slide on this one. Too bad we couldn't get Amare or NeNe instead of with our second no. 1, last year. Can't win 'em all. I really don't think that as good as EG and MoT are/will be they are the solution to our problem, except as trade bait.
Everyone knows u didnt like the Van Gundy move. but that doesnt mean u can just ignore the original post and go on about all the other crap. I was not talking about Eddie's shooting, or Moochie's dribbling, or our offense at all. I was referring to one of our main weaknesses last year at Defense, especially of Eddie's. And guess what, thats what Van Gundy especializes in, DEFENSE. So, given that fact, can Eddie improve enough to not be a weakness, like hit the boards better, play better one on one D, and maybe be in position to block shots better. Not be a Dale Davis kind of a banger, but be enough of a factor so we dont have to trade or use our MLE of a 4. I am not talking about Eddie being a star, that will be a long term thing. Short term, can he recover from last year under JVG and help the team?
