I don't understand where this notion that Murphy is expendable came from. The only time I've ever seen his name come up was in the Artest rumors and the Warriors were not going to trade him along with Diogu and/or Dunleavy.

I mean, if they find the right deal (they are rumord to be looking for a big trade for a big man) he is a goner, but he is not "expendable" to give him up for expiring contracts.

If Q Rich didn't have back problems I would go after him but I don't think even NY is going to give him up for just D. Wes + fillers.
Mo Pete would be nice but it's unlikely we could get him. The Golden State scenarios don't help us much IMO.

Fish's contract is an albatross. The only way we do a deal for him is if they give us Pietrus, not Murphy, another zero defense, overpaid power forward. Now, I would give up just about anything for Pietrus, including Luther or Stromile.

DUECE, you are one of the true mavens of this board. But, if what you are saying is true and IMO it is, we will probably never see a championship. If, in truth, Wesley and Mooch are not valuable commodities nor useful to us then we just lose. As long as we have TMac and Yao on the same team we will be hard pressed to accumulate talent because we can't pay for it. I do not hold out much hope for us acquiring much through the draft because we will constantly be in the middle of the playoffs and out of the lottery. Maybe in retrospect it was not such a good idea to acquire TMac and his burdensome salary in spite of his considerable talents. He prooved last year that he and Yao can not get it done without a better supporting cast or a coach that uses their talents differently. If we can't give them a better supporting cast then we are doomed to mediocrity.
