Tell that Juwan. He lost his job, one and a half seasons after Chuck Hayes was signed. :)

Yeah, Conroy ain't replacing Brooks. He's just a summer league invite like Lucas III.

    Rockets Sign Albuquerque’s Chuck Hayes

GREENVILLE, S.C., Jan. 18 – The Houston Rockets signed Albuquerque Thunderbirds forward Chuck Hayes to a 10-day contract today, making him the fourth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2005-06 NBA Development League season and the 54th overall since the league began play in November 2001.

Houston also signed former Tulsa 66ers guard John Lucas III to a second 10-day contract. Lucas is averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 assists in seven games with the Rockets. He was signed to his first 10-day contract on Jan. 8. The Rockets roster again stands at 16 players after receiving another special exception from the NBA due to injuries.

Hayes originally signed with Houston as a rookie free agent on October 3. He averaged 0.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in four preseason games with the Rockets before being waived on October 25. Hayes was then selected sixth overall in the 2005 NBA D-League Draft by the Albuquerque Thunderbirds. In 15 games (14 starts) with Albuquerque, Hayes averaged 10.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.

The former Kentucky standout also helped Houston to a 5-0 record at the 2005 Minnesota Summer League, averaging 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in five games. He finished his collegiate career at Kentucky starting 110 consecutive games, tying the school record set by Alex Groza from 1946-49. While at Kentucky, Hayes won two SEC Championships and two SEC Tournament titles. He also helped UK to three NCAA Sweet 16 finishes and two NCAA Elite Eights. As a senior, Hayes was named consensus First-Team All-SEC and league Defensive Player of the Year.

Thank you. That's exactly what I was thinking. This does not mean that Lowry or Brooks is on there way out. That's why teams are allowed to have 15 players so that you can be 3-deep for every position. If Brooks or Lowry get injured, we will be without a starting or backup guard. It's not uncommon to have 3 guards on a team. Not too long ago the Rockets had like 5 guards.

I'd rather the Rockets try and sign a veteran point guard like Bobby Jackson for the minimum.

True, but I don't think either of them will sign with Houston unless the Rockets choose not to pursue Aretst.

actually, we could only use our MLE to sign them.

meaning we won't have any money left to resign von. since we don't have his bird rights we have to use the MLE to sign him. AND we probably wont have enough room left under the LT (if we spend the full MLE which bibby and miller are sure to receive) to sign artest.

so the choice is either full MLE on bibby or miller, OR ron and von.

Von is a ball hogg extaraordinaire. He could not pass if his teamate was wide open under the basket and he was triple teamed. And his team was lossing by 1 point. And Von was 0-10 shooting from the field, and had a broken finger in his right hand, with tired legs.

Von will shoot. That's what he does. He's a scorer.

I don't want Von Wafer back. What's with all of this MLE talk and Von??????

But, why does everyone assume that Lowry is out of favor if the team is wanting another backup to Brooks. As far as I know even third string backs up the starting point guard position. It's reinforcement.

The Rockets need scorer's that can utilize basic Basketball IQ. Not like Von Wafer, what a waste of talent!!!! The way he plays, he'd be an all-star if he had a bit of Basketball IQ. But as it is, he is a big show boat.

No wonder Adelman kicked his butt off the floor in the playoffs.

Feigan seems to think little of Flight White who was a D-League stud. But with the same numbers in D1 MCBB he would be a lotto pick. So, figure.
