They benefit alot from Yao being doubled on nearly every possession

All star is a bit much, but both are "solid" role players and are going to get better. If they get too much better, other teams are going to want them, which is both good and bad. Interestingly, their current games fit here very well.

Scola is much more of a role player like Battier, so I believe as much as he helps us, his stats will never show up and fans will never give him respect he deserves.

Landry is flashy as hell and could become a future superstar, I believe Landry has a better chance to be a future All-star, but Scola is much more valuable to us this year (and maybe in future years too).

They both have a chance but I doubt it'll be on a Rockets team. It's a matter of getting close to 40 min/game. If they only play 20 min each there's no way either one of them will be All-Stars. However, If both of them got adequate playing time I think they could do it. If in the next 5 years, we are able to keep one of them, I would be quite happy. Between the two of them, I'd keep Landry. If for some miracle, we can keep them both, then the Rockets are going to be a force for many years to come.

BTW, I think that Scola moves a lot like this guy.

As good as I think Landry is, I think he benefits greatly from playing with Tmac/Yao/RA's system. He seems to get lots of alleyoops and wide open shots with the double teams on Tmac and Yao. Luckily he seems to have a shooting touch which is an added bonus. I guess it pays to have a 28 year old rookie. I don't know how good he would be on a bad team like the Knicks.

I mentioned in an other post that Landry reminds me of Karl Malone, It will be nice to see this young man mature into a solid player.

Sorry buddy, he is no McHale. McHale is a top 10 power forward of all-time. Maybe top 5? If he becomes half as good as McHale offensively with Yao and McGrady healthy, championship gold will be around their finger.

    No I don't think so.
they both are very solid players and may have all star numbers but can not be all stars.

Scola is a fundamental player, nut flash.
Landry can dunk but not crazy dunk. If he can play guard or small foward, and practice his skill to play like Tmac level, then he may have a chance.

I think Landry will become an all star in a few years provided there is no major injury.

I think both actually have a chance...if Scola ever moves to the East, I think he has a shot at it.

Landry seems like he could turnout to be more than just servicable player and possibly at be in discussion of the top SF/PF in the west....I think with him being a tweener might could get him in on an odd year.

If Landry can develop a 40% 3-point shooting, have similiar skill sets as TMAC, learn some post plays from Shaq, defend the basket like Mutumbo, and get 7 inches from Yao, he'd be better than Dream.

Landry's played over 350 minutes this season, and he's still maintaining an impressive 22.4 PER.

Here's a list of all players since the 79-80 season to have played at least 300 minutes and had at least a 20 PER:

    Code:
Rk Player Season Age Tm G MP PER
    1 David Robinson 1989-90 24 SAS 82 3002 26.3
    2 Michael Jordan 1984-85 21 CHI 82 3144 25.8
    3 Arvydas Sabonis 1995-96 31 POR 73 1735 24.7
    4 Shaquille ONeal 1992-93 20 ORL 81 3071 22.9

    6 Terry Cummings 1982-83 21 SDC 70 2531 22.8

    13 Jelani McCoy 1998-99 21 SEA 26 331 21.1
    14 Alonzo Mourning 1992-93 22 CHH 78 2644 20.8
    15 Magic Johnson 1979-80 20 LAL 77 2795 20.6
    16 Elton Brand 1999-00 20 CHI 81 2999 20.6
    17 Yao Ming 2002-03 22 HOU 82 2383 20.6
    18 Larry Bird 1979-80 23 BOS 82 2955 20.5
    19 Clark Kellogg 1982-83 21 IND 81 2761 20.3
    20 Marquis Daniels 2003-04 23 DAL 56 1039 20.1
    21 Ralph Sampson 1983-84 23 HOU 82 2693 20.1

The only players here who did not make an all-star team are Arvydas Sabonis, Derrick Gervin, Carl Landry, Jelani McCoy, Clark Kellogg, and Marquis Daniels.

That said, I'd be surprised if Landry maintains the production he started off with. Age is also a factor. Landry is relatively old for a rookie, being 24. "Athletic" players tend to peak, at least statistically, at around 26 or 27. So I'm not sure how much upside Landry really has. If I had to make a prediction right now, I'd say he never makes an all-star team, but he'll have a long productive career as a solid rotation player.

Heh Durvasa, with stats like that you actually made the case for Landry to be an All-Star someday lol.
