You do know that he's ineligible for the draft, right? He's only a Sophomore. Has to be at least a Junior.

Seriously, are you joking? He'd be a complete moron to declare for the draft after only 3 starts in college total. If anyone drafted him at all, it would be in the 6th or 7th round at the earliest. If he stays at Ohio State and has a good season next year, then would be the time to try to head to the NFL.

Honestly, I don't think it is worth risking his draft stock to remain in college.

Playing devil's advocate, he just had a baby and there is a good chance he would be the backup in Ohio State next year (both Braxton Miller and JT Barrett looked like Heisman candidates before their injuries). Transferring to a school where he would be guaranteed to start is not an option since he would have to sit out a year and is already a third-year sophomore.

If he declares, he would probably be a mid-late round pick despite his highly impressive physical tools due to the fact that he only has 3 games (even though they were the 3 biggest games of the season). Maybe even a UDFA

That's the only reason why it's actually a possibility he comes out. If he thinks there's a legit chance that he doesn't get to start again, he might as well come out. Riding the wave of publicity now would get him drafted higher than if he stayed in school and never played again. He won't be drafted anywhere near the 1st round, but somebody might be willing to risk a late round pick on him.

Jones not starting wouldn't necessarily be disastrous for his draft prospects. Matt Cassell never started at USC and he got drafted.

Better QB prospect than anyone not named Winston... This QB class sucks.

I heard Braxton Miller may be transferring.

I brought up 12 Gauge in the off-season thread and you and your boy bobby jumped on me for the stupid idea that Jones could declare for the draft... I see you're changing your tune.

    I agree.
He returns as a backup and can't transfer without sitting for a year. Plus he's already 22.
If he grades out as a mid-rounder he should definitely declare for the draft. Even if it doesn't pan out long term a few hundred thousand goes a long way in the real world. Dollar dollar bills y'all.........

Interesting fact: steve "air" mcnair's coach at Alcorn State was Cardell Jones. Cardale Jones is the first guy that I've seen that reminds me of Mcnair.

For one. Cardale has 'what' tendencies. Mcnair, coming out of Mont Olive Mississippi he was just a different guy.
And obviously the arm strength and physical nature are there.

I would love for the titans to take this dude, but it ain't going to happen with wiz-idiot at the helm.

It would have been wise for Kenny Hill to come out after his first 3 games this season at A&M.
