P.S. I stopped paying attention to Taranto the day he wrote (in response to my joke that "Nobody's going to out-Christian Joe Lieberman"), "Slate founder Mike Kinsley is proud of his refusal to employ fact-checkers, but even so, somebody should have caught the mistake in William Saletan's column ... Lieberman is not Christian at all. He's Jewish. Then again, Saletan may be better off for not having known this fact." I don't know how to begin a conversation with somebody that dumb.
If you mean Josh Daniel, yeah I sort of am. I worked with him at the Houston office of Microsoft Sidewalk. After I left, I think CBFC did too.
It's a wonder anyone in this country votes. As Will stated the 'conservative party' has taken on the most idealistic international adventure since the Marshall Plan. And now the 'liberal' party has to debate against it in the election campaign. The 'conservative' party is running up huge deficits. The conservatives have advanced a social welfare program providing federal monies to give seniors more prescription benefits. The 'conservative' party wants be involved in peoples personal lifestyle choices. The people would be better served if their choices were more consistant through the spectrum of issues. Maybe if we could choose between Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader we could atleast decide whether we were consevative or liberal. (though I don't think Nader holds the traditional liberal internationalist view)
