Not just one or two or three of the following, EACH of the following:

    1) Average at least 1.19 points per field goal attempt
    2) Average fewer than 0.9 turnovers per game
    3) Post a positive plus/minus per 100 possessions
    4) Score at least 9.7 points per game

Bit of background info: Nobody on this roster has ever hit all 4 of those targets in one (NBA) season, except for Battier, who hasn't done it since 06/07.

My suggestions would be Landry and Lowry. I think one of them could potentially crack 1, 3, and 4, although 2 will be the hard one, considering how our team has looked in execution so far.

how about a list of players that actually did this last year? highly doubt this will happen on our team, with so many new components.

Landry's a good guess on our team. Budinger might well be on the list.

Lowry's a point, and will have too many turnovers.

My guess would be Battier even though he will be more featured on offense.

that's almost a category built for shane, right?

for #1, you can 1.19 ppFGA only through high% 3pointer or high volume FTA - that basically rules out landry or any of our big.

for #2, that rules out our pgs or anyone that touches the ball often

for #3, that basically chase buddinger is out since he is the backup AND will understandably struggle in defence to have a positive +/- at this point

that leaves... ugh... battier and ariza. and I don't think ariza is a good enough 3pt shooter (or attracts enough FTA for that matter) to be a part of this.

so... we are basically asking: will shane be able to reach those 4 this season?

and no, I don't think shane reaches #1 and #2.

Battier and Budinger probably have the best shot at it, in that order.

Someone that score at least 9.7 points with less than 0.9 turnovers?
I really wonder how many in the NBA did that last season in that 2 criteria alone.
After a quick check at http://www.basketball-reference.com,
Only 6 players achieve it. Arenas, Butler, Marrow, Peja, Fisher and R.Wallace. Remove Arenas who only played 2 games. That leaves 5 players in the entire NBA, and all 5 are purely shooters that did pretty much nothing else. So I really wonder why you want to have a player like that to play for the Rox.

I don't understand the point of this...does satisfying those requirements make them a good player?

Just to clarify something, I meant to say "0.9 turnovers or fewer" instead of "less than 0.9 turnovers". That doesn't really change anything, but I wanted to clarify that.

Not necessarily, but IMO it would make them a decent player at the very least. I'd love to have a young player on a cheap contract who could score with that combination of efficiency and volume, while putting up positive plus/minus numbers.

You know, I seem to remember at least one NBA player doing it, but I just can't quite recall who it was...

0 rockets achieve this we miss the playoffs completely.
1 rocket achieves this and we sniff the playoffs but miss
2 rockets achieve this we sneak into the playoffs
3 rockets achieve this and we are a media sensation and advance in the playoffs

How does Marrow, R.Butler, Peja, Fisher and R.Wallace fit that bill?

Well...Butler, Peja, Fisher, and Sheed definitely don't fit the bill. They're all old/expensive/both, and none of them managed to average 1.19 points per shot anyway. Morrow would fit the bill, except I can't imagine Golden State's all that eager to trade him. So even though his contract is tiny, he might not necessarily be that "cheap". If he was a free agent, it'd be a different story.

I guarantee you Battier gets three out of the four there. The turnovers part will be hard to accomplish, since if you didn't notice he's been handling the ball a significant portion of the time when he's in the game now, esp bringing the ball up the court.

I wish there had been a, and I know I should probably move on, way for us to get a shooting guard with that kind of efficiency/production this offseason. Was there a way for us to do that?

Its not considered a turnover if you brick it off the backboard.

There similar players who do the same thing to be effective i guess.

That is not an easy task for anybody to achieve especially all 4.

I don't think anybody can achieve those 4 this season, but i think if they play to their game without being asked to do much more then Battier, Budinger and Ariza could make that list.
