I don't want this to turn into a yao bash on this end, so let me say this and get i out the way. When Yao was playing like that, the team couldn't win a game. It wasn't his fault, but that was yao at his absolute best and that was almost 5 yrs ago. There is no evidence to lead me to think yao can play that good, for those minutes coming off the surgery he just had. Now, fandom probably have you thinking he can, but reality tells me he can't and won't. Not to mention #23 is just awesome.
Give him a PG who can pass him the ball on time, and on target (McGrady was the best at that, so far, but, unfortunately, he did not do it often enough as he had his own stats to pad), then we can talk. With Brooks as the PG, you can close that MVP book on Yao. Forget about a ring too.
This. I'd much rather see a Finals MVP from this team, than a regular season MVP. But Yao has a shot at it. He would need to average something like 25/13/3 though. Yao would have to beat out James and Durant in the near future, which is damn near hard to do.
Yes. Yao has a shot, but it will more likely be someone else. I don't imagine that the Rox will never have an MVP again though, or even go a lifetime without one.
No, because to win MVP and all those awards you have to be ethier a ball hog(Kobe) or the only offensive weapon(Lebron) Yao is neither
On our current roster....maybe Yao. NBA.com and ESPN had him pre picked as one of the top players that could win MVP a couple a years ago or something. If he comes back and his foot isn't a huge burden then you never know.
