Nah, this is entertaining as hell. Reminds me of the Francis vs JVG vs Yao days. Good times.

Rick Adelman will be here longer than Yao.

After next year, we probably won't resign Yao, as much as I hate to say it.

Then we can start moving forward with (hopefully) players that don't get injured as often, fit into Adelman's system, and don't cause any drama whatsoever.

A clean slate is in the Rockets' future, but we must be patient. Let Morey and Adelman put together a team that is cohesive.

I second this motion.... and I am not going to bother reading the rest of the thread.

I do want to say, that they have already said yao has been talking to the staff and working on learning how to better start with the outlet pass and get them running ahead of him.

I love yao, but can we please just let the man heal for crying out loud.

I know that I'm new here, but I don't see much of a need for this thread at all.

Will Yao Ming play at all next season? Will he play again, ever? We've heard a lot about McGrady and his shortcomings in the media and the board, but Yao is the goldenchild. Have the Rockets released anything about Yao's recovery?

I have often wondered if the McGrady saga isn't just a cover up for Yao's short comings and his injuries. I think he is a very good player and is definitely worth having but he is an absolute albatross in the 4th quarter.
This thread sucks.

funny how a thread about yao still has t-mac being brought up in it, anyways, i think yao should be X'd, he's too damn slow to keep up with any Center in the league (even shaq!) and his offensive post moves are just as slow, i'd rather us bring in Bosh and if we get rid of Yao, possibly either re-sign t-mac or bring in an up and coming wingman

I was a big supporter of T-Mac when he came to the Rockets and supported him until last year's debacle, hoping that the Yao/Mac combo could take us to deep to the playoffs and contend for a title. Even now, I had some hope that he could somehow magically recover to the T-Mac from the first season in Houston who was not only putting up points, but was getting his teammates involved.

The problem I have with the T-Mac apologists who bring Yao into T-Mac conversations and try to make a comparison is that they fail to realize that their are some HUGE differences between the two:

1. T-Mac (whether deserving or not) has created an image for himself that he is lazy and selfish.

2. T-Mac, as evidenced by multiple events, doesn't carry himself very well. When its time to shine, he steps into the spotlight, but when the spotlight burns out, he is quick to make excuses for his shortcomings.

3. How T-Mac handled the whole injury situation last year was a disaster and it was mostly of his own making. Furthermore, instead of learning from it, he has continued the disaster into this season.

4. Even before in Orlando, T-Mac's relationship with management wasn't that great.

Now when you combine all of these together plus the fact that he is in a contract year, the Rockets, rightfully so, have concerns that the team won't be his number one priority.

Yao's injury history is just as bad, if not worst, then T-Mac's. I am still not sure what he can bring next year and I am still on the fence whether the Rockets should resign him if he goes out late in the season or playoffs with another injury. BUT, the big difference is that Yao's demeanor and hard work just make it easier to root for him.

Tracy McGrady is a genuinely nice guy. When I meet him in Vegas, he talked to me, signed two jersey and two hats for me, and even talked to me for a long time as he was getting hounded by mobs of fans reaching from behind the barricade. But T-Mac is another story. He (or the media) has created a divas like personality that makes his antics tiresome. And even if it is the media, they couldn't have done it without him making it so easy for them.

Why can't he just have people around him that tell him to shut up and think/act a little less selfish?!

Keeping Yao on the bench is the only way to keep him healthy!! I doubt that they would gt rid of him though. Instead we will be treated to another year of wandering when he will go down with an injury. With Yao sadly it is not "IF" he will be injured but "WHEN".

PLEASE! GIVE ME A BREAK! Yao is one of the best players, let alone big men, in the league ... when he's on the court. All they need to do is keep him on the court. Tall order, I know. But just maybe ... they allow him to run even less than last year so while Ariza and the gang are running the fast break, Yao just hangs out at the opposite free throw line. This is a double bonus - no running for Yao, plus it will slow down opposing fast breaks.

I know, I should be a coach ... but alas ...

Exactly. He's already keeping McGrady out, imagine him keeping Yao out too...it's like he only cares about insurance
money, and doesn't give a damn about actually winning....

This issue is not gonna go away because now it seems that it is more about personal feelings toward people rather than winning basketball games. If it is about winning games, you put the best talent that you have on the floor in order to win. Not playing a healthy T-Mac with his basketball talents does not equate to winning games. Neither does not playing Yao if he is healthy. So how do you separate not playing one from not playing the other if they are both healthy? This is not gonna go away anytime soon, if at all.

Exactly! First, it is still unclear whether T-Mac is ready to get back on the court. Look at Michael Redd. He was out a few weeks and the Bucks are slowly bringing him in.

T-Mac had major surgery so it is reasonable of the Rockets to ask him to go through a few full practices before getting back on the court. This becomes even more reasonable when you take into account the situation with Amare and the Suns a couple of years ago and the fact that mostly athletes struggle coming back from this surgery.

I wouldn't expect Yao to be put back on the court unless he hears fully before training camp and is able to participate so we can see how healthy he is.

Also, does anyone else worry about the fact that T-Mac is in a contract year? That is a double-edged sword! Lets say that he comes back to being healthy T-Mac and puts up some big scoring numbers, but his FG% isn't that great. Sure he will win a few more games due to his superior talent and athleticism (assuming he is fully recoverd), but should the Rockets risk that if it is going to harm the growth of the other players and the team as a whole? What if team struggles to the point of hurting the team and Adelman is forced to reduce his minutes? Would T-Mac be okay with that? Would an unhappy T-Mac be good for that locker room?

Same reason why he said he'd always been on mediocre teams. TMac is a douche and a diva when it comes to basketball.
btw, I think Yao and Tmac are in the same boat right now.
Why would they be in the same boat?

What will be the situation if Yao Ming is cleared to play just before the 09/10
playoffs? He will be expecting to play a few games to get into game shape
for the playoffs! Will it be McGrady part two? How do the fans feel about this? :p
