No way! ok I finish law school and just as I start making big bucks and start to pay off most of my loans I get drafted?! Dude that sucks!
OK, then let Bush make that same pledge that there will be no draft if he is elected. Wait a minute... like it would matter what he said, Bush'll just do it anyway and say it was because of "complimuhcations with the war on terra."
Did I say it was a Republican bill? No. Did I see that the candidates for the highest executive office in one party (Dems) say they don't support it? Yes. Then I asked if the others running for the same office would support it then stated I doubted it would matter.
We know...unless the UN says that we can after asking Mommy may I. If Kerry wins we'll have to ask the UN before we sneeze, fart or anything else. Ummm...Mr. Secretary...it's 107 degrees out here, may we be allowed to sweat, please?
What gave you the idea that Kerry wouldn't do anything unless we get permission from the UN in order to act? Kerry has said the exact opposite.
Ridiculous. They signed their names on the dotted line VOLUNTARILY. What a bunch of whiney b****es. When I was a reservist, I would have taken my callup like a man and did my job instead of whining about a "backdoor draft."
While watcing the start of the first Gulf War played out live on CNN, I thought about the draft because I was in college at the time. While I worried about being drafted, deep in the back of my mind I knew it wouldn't really happen. Today it is true that the arm services are stretched thin, but I still think the draft is yesterday's news. If it did become reinstituted, then a person (man or woman because the draft better include both) has three choices: serve their time, refuse to serve and go to jail or leave the country, like moving to Canada. If enough people objected, then they could always overthrow the government. Thomas Jefferson believed that revolution was a good thing every so many years.
You need to stop spreading these lies, you are better than that, refman. Kerry wants COOPERATION with the worldwide community and has specifically said that he will NEVER bow to ANYONE when it comes to the strategic interests of the United States.
Cooperation is code-word for putting the interests of the UN above our own. Andy, put down the Kerry kool-aid and walk away, Mr. Sychophant.
That just gotta hurt ... Bush Signals Softer Approach to U.N. It's just a jump to the left and a step to the right ...
Cooperation is the only way we will win the war on terror. The only way we can effectively fight terrorists WORLDWIDE is with WORLDWIDE cooperation. At times, that will mean compromise, but Kerry has made it VERY clear in VERY strong terms that he will never put this nation's vital interests second to anyone. The only way we can track down terrorists is with the kind of worldwide cooperation we received right after 9/11. We had a massive worldwide effort that put pressure on the Taliban and eventually helped the US drive the Taliban and Al Qaeda into the hills. The French flew more air sorties than anyone but the United States and even the vast majority of Arab nations gave us support in that action. We can build that kind of support again. It is true that GWB has burned many bridges and spurned many neighbors, but with a true diplomat at the helm, those relationships can be repaired and we can have the kind of support we will need to root out terrorists wherever they happen to appear. With the combined resources of the world, we can find these nutjobs and take them out before they do more damage. John Kerry, with his knowledge of the world, foreign relations, and public policy, is the right man to lead this country in the war on terror. Kerry is the right man to lead an international effort to rebuild Iraq and it is likely that a more international presence would be seen as far more legitimate. John Kerry is the right man for the job because he is the better man to lead the war on terror.
Besides, with Kerry in the President's office, there is no way he could POSSIBLY spend as much money as GWB has, considering that the GOP will probably continue to control both houses of Congress.
