    M_cable,

you are right, I am relentless but that's how the Rockets played back in the day. That's how Max and Dream and Sam and Horry were.

what are you talking about M?? my pics make sense. Look, here's Vernon and Nelson together. Vernon was young then.

    tinman,

As I have said several times, I loved Vernon for what he did for us in the six years he played here right up until he chose to quit on the team in 1995. A professional does not make such a choice under any circumstances. The only type of person who makes such a choice is someone whose ego will not let them be a professional and do their job to the best of their ability.

Vernon could have helped us tremendously in the '95 playoffs. He could have acted like a man and could have chosen to be a professional. Instead, he acted selfish. He whined about playing behind Drexler, who was leaps and bounds better than him, and then he gave an interview on a golf course in which he came off like a spoiled rotten child.

I have some fond memories of Vernon and I have some bitter memories of him. All in all, I would say that my view of him reflects reality far better than yours.

leaps and bounds better? I think not. Vernon has contributed more to the Rockets and is more of a Rocket than Clyde. Clyde got traded to a championship team. Vernon along with Otis and Kenny were the building blocks on the championship team. Hakeem was complaining about the lack of good teammates and then they honored his request and brought in kenny, OT, and vernon. they made Rudy T the coach.
    have you forgotten that?

you know that vernon was volatile. he wants to be the man taking the big shots. trading for clyde was like making bruce banner angry. you know what would happen.

look, if you left your job, you'd be on the golf course too. big deal.

whatever dude, no one likes your senator palpatine views, my views are universal and they flow.. through the trees.. the water..

that's awesome...just look at the youthful origins of vernon's revolutionary spirit...i see the determination in his eyes...the foundation for the championships was already being made

Puh-leeze. This statement alone shows your inability to grasp reality. Clyde Drexler was a superstart at the end of his prime when he came to the Rockets and Vernon was a very good role player.

Vernon contributed to the Rockets just about the same amount as Clyde IMO. They both earned one ring in a Rox uni. (earned is the key word)

That was on the ropes after Elie broke his wrist. Without Clyde, it is entirely possible that the Rox slip down to the 7 or 8 seed and end up playing Seattle or San Antonio in the first round. We still would have had a chance as we took out four of the best five teams in the league that season, but it would have been a tougher row to hoe against Seattle without Clyde.

Of course they were, and I continue to give Vernon a TON of credit for that first championship. Without him, we don't get that ring, period.

Nope. Have you forgotten that the team was sucking wind after Mario broke his wrist? He missed half the season that year and we needed a change, some fresh legs, and another star to take the pressure off of Dream. I was skeptical at first b/c I hated seeing OT go, but it ended up working out EXTREMELY well.

One can be volatile and still act like a professional. Vernon chose not to act like a professional and that choice tainted his career forever.

I never would have made the choice to leave in the first place, but that isn't what pissed me off. It was the fact that he acted like a petulant child and said that he would still get a paycheck and a ring even though he quit.

I would bet any amount of money that if you polled all of the players from that team and all of the fans of that team, they would lean much closer to my POV than yours.

exactly, Clyde had one good year for us. Max had 6 great years.
Clyde was a superstar for us for 1 year and 13 years for Portland.

Vernon had more game winning shots, thrilling games both in the post seasons and regular seasons.

Clyde played exceptional for us for that one special run. After that, he couldnt even dunk.

It worked out well, but I miss OT. He was a great guy, I met him last year and told him how I appreciated his tough D, boards, and outlet passes. He seemed genuinely happy that I remembered the good ole days.

Its not a knock on Clyde, we miss OT. i feel OT never got the credit he deserved.

you remember the FAT ELVIS. I remember the guy who rocked America.

He worked for his paycheck and he worked for his rings. He didnt quit, he had to take some time off for stuff. it happens.

dude you'd be bankrupted. 99% of the fans here LOVE MAXWELL. you and cohen are the 1% that want to harm his legacy.

you remember when Vader threw the Emporor to save Luke??!! Max would have saved your life too.

    I seriously don't know what's sadder...

    - the way tinman argues (spouting nonsense and posting idiotic pictures)

    - the fact that people still manage to get baited into an argument with him. ;)

vernon maxwell is a political prisoner like mumia abu-jamal and similar to mumia, he freed himself from mental slavery a long time ago

even though tony montana was killed, he's more alive today than ever and the same thing will happen to max...he will be a martyr

Another political prisoner is Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma.
She is under house arrest by the beatch government of Burma.

Vernon Maxwell is a political topic here and he's under arrest because he married some gold digin beatch! and its a Buma!

    someone has to live forever...because

Maybe I don't really want to know
    How your garden grows
I just want to fly Lately did you ever feel the pain
    In the morning rain
As it soaks it to the bone

Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
    Maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

Maybe I don't really want to know
    How your garden grows
I just want to fly Lately did you ever feel the pain
    In the morning rain
As it soaks it to the bone

    Maybe I will never be
All the things that I want to be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever
    We're gonna live forever
    Gonna live forever
    Live forever
    Forever

Everybody's talking all this stuff about me
Why don't they just let me live?
I don't need commission, make my own decisions
    That's my prerogative
    [IMG]
    They say I'm crazy
    I really don't care
    That's my prerogative
    They say I'm nasty
    But I don't give a damn
Getting girls is how I live
    Some messy questions
    Why am I so real?
    But they don't undersand me
I really don't know the deal about her brother
Trying hard to make it right
    Not long ago
    Before I win this fight
    Sing!
    (Chorus)
Everybody's talking all this stuff about me
Why don't they just let me live?
    <Tell me why> I don't need commission
    Make my own decisions
    That's my prerogative
    It's my prerogative <It's my prerogative>
    [IMG]
It's the way that I wanna live <It's my prerogative>
I can do just what I feel <It's my prerogative>
No one can tell me what to do <It's my prerogative>
'Cause what I'm doing, I'm doing for you
    [IMG]
    Don't get me wrong
    I'm really not souped
Ego trips is not my thing
All these strange relationships really gets me down
I see nothing wrong in spreading myself around
    Sing!

    (Chorus)

I can do what I wanna do <It's my prerogative>
I can live my life <It's my prerogative>
And I'm doing it just for you <It's my prerogative>
    [IMG]
    Tell me, tell me
    Why can't I live my life <Live my life>
Without all of the things that people say, oh...

    (Bridge)
Yo, teddy kick it like this
Oh, no, no..., I can do what I wanna do
Me and you together, together, together, together, together

    (Chorus/Vamp Out)

If you guys caught Inside the NBA last night,
Kenny talked to Doc Rivers about coming back from 3-1.
He mentioned that your team needed a scoring monster.
He said fortunately they had Hakeem, and also said 'at one point Vernon Maxwell'..mentioned that these guys could take over a series.

Kenny is keeping it real. Staying true to the Rockets team that won it all..
Unlike some of you fake Rocket fans out there!
