It's sad, but this is probably going to spell the end of Nintendo in the home console market. It'll be 'All DS, All Pokemon, All the Time' after this turns into a complete debacle.
Dressing up a turd. nice. Wii was the definition of a one-hit wonder. Wii Sports had everyone rushing to get one, then they didn't hardly put out a game worth a **** after that. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and New Super Mario Bros were pretty solid editions to the Mario Franchise though, thats the only reason I have a Wii for my kid. My wife and I like playing Retro games like SNES Donkey Kong and such. Also because they are extremely easy to hack, and I don't have to pay for games Its cool being able to load 1000 SNES and N64 roms off a 4GB SD card.
That's what they said when the original DS came out and the Wii. They know what they're doing. It just sucks that all the cool games don't get released with the system. Usually their libraries don't get good until 1 or 2 years after the systems are out.
There were a few more good games than just the Mario's but yeah, they lacked a wide library. The Wii was good for what it was, although the shelf life was short. I was hoping they learned a little something and would have beefed up Wii U a little more. That being said though, it isn't necessarily all about specs and i don't doubt that games will look great
I stood in line at Best Buy to get a Wii. But this one...Yeah totally not stoked. I've pretty much become turned off by the motion controller of the Wii and the tablet controller of the WiiU looks even worse. Maybe I'm rushing to judge before even trying it, but that controller doesn't seem like it'd be comfortable. And all the things it can do with regards to WiiTV it seems the other consoles already do. Graphics are already outdated, no promising Metroid, DKC, Mario (New Super Mario Bros doesn't look all that different from all the others). Maybe I'll get one in the future, but right now I'm happy with what I got.
Preordered yesterday at Best Buy. Now they're sold out. Gamestop: Sold out of Deluxe Best Buy: Sold out both online. Still might have to check local stores though. Target: Sold out both online Walmart/Toys R Us still taking orders though.
You could probably learn something from this guy's instructions. Not that I know anything about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-QwfCHjI9Q Been playing this Super Mario Bros World hack called "Brutal Mario" for the past few weeks from this SNES rom pack I downloaded. Great fun if you're a fan of that game.
Posted youtube link above. Probably takes about 5-6 hours to complete from start to playing games. You might have to go back a couple times and re-do some steps because you didn't do something right. But that youtube guide is legit, just follow everything he does and pay attention to detail. If you want to be able to play downloaded Wii games, you can do it through a few different programs, basically you just take a flash drive, format it properly and use a program called WBFS manager to make the Wii able to load downloaded games. This is the only way to play downloaded games on the Wii if you have a Wii that was bought after 2008. Nintendo made it impossible for the Wii to read any discs other than Wii or Gamecube discs after people easily hacked the original. Note - It is very important that you do the "BootMii" backup step. This allows you to go into your system and restore it should it "brick" (I.e. stop working because you screwed something up). Once you get access to the Homebrew channel you can put a lot of cool apps on there, including media players that will allow you to hook up your external hdd to the Wii and play .avi files and such, and emulators for all retro gaming systems (SNES, NES, N64, PSX, Sega, etc). Also you can download ".wad" files and load them onto your Wii main screen so you can play them just like you would be able to if you bought them through the Wii store.
Some Best Buys are still taking pre orders in store. Anyone know how it works? Is it first come first serve on pre orders?
i'm just kiddin', of course... I can learn myself. Although I'm not sure I want to teach my offspring that this is "legit."
I just tell my kid that there are people on the internet that "share" these games with you, if you're a cool dude.
