While reading the Chicago Tribune last summer, I came across a 4-inch by 4-inch picture of a shamrock-shaped tombstone that read "DWYER" over the middle -- an ad for a funeral home.

I later put it on the fridge to my parents home with a magnet, but apparently it creeped my mum out too much because she took it down.

I saw that too and I was like What the heck is that. There are several good web sites and publications which discuss the end times in depth based on the events in the world in comparison to the Bible, but this "ad" is pretty silly IMO

Did the world end yet...? Someone tell me if it does, because I don't think they can make me stay at work in that case.

    yall are funny. :)

    well on a serious note.....

as a Christian, it is very disheartening to see things like that, and I don't blame you guys one bit for writing this off as ridiculous. i think too many believe that so long as the word(message) of the Bible is being shared, they can do/say anything - that the "ends justifies the means", so to speak. they seem to forget that there is a thing called tact.

the fact is, yes, the Bible does give indications of the end times - how to interpret them is subject for another discussion (discussion=understatement). however, one thing that is crystal clear is that the exact time will never be known. the Lord will come like "a thief in the night."

of course all that i just said sounds like a bunch of religious jargon and proves nothing. it wasn't meant to. just that the ad was wacky. i suppose the essence of the ad was okay, but unfortunately the lack of tact pretty much takes away anything good from it.

i hope you guys can understand the heart[/h] of these types of things. anytime you are handed some pamphlet about Jesus on the corner of a street or see ads like this or anything like that, know that it's not meant to be a contest about who can win the most converts or anything like that. at least it's not SUPPOSED to be. personally i feel that in many instances, that is was evangelism has become - one big contest. Christians are to love everyone, to do all things out of love. anything done outside of love is NOT from God. so when you come across people who try force these beliefs on you, i fancy to say that it's just fine to ignore them (although i'm sure many of you already do). chances are, they are not doing it out of love. however, please do know that many others are not there just to play mind control or whatever. i ask that you give them a chance. they are there speaking to you out of true love, what we believe to be the truth - that Jesus died for US out of LOVE. in the end, it is just that simple, and in the end it's up to you to believe or not. that is all.

On the beltway near 59s there is a billboard standing in the middle of an open field with this exact calculation and timeline....

Alot of religious folks now think the Tsunami disaster is another sign the world is close to the end.....
