Fatty FatBastard Can you even read? Maybe it is a comprehension problem but from what Jeff said he was not trying to disect the Rudy "demotion" issue rather he was trying to discuss the weird way the media handled it. The media according to Jeff did not back up their claim of an upset fan base with real interviews - rather the interviews of a porported backlash was all about fans sad but undertsanding of the need for a change. So what has that got to do with Jeff? Of course my take above is strictly without bias.
Fatty's next Quest: To Become The 2003 Ignore List CHAMPION!!! (any help greatly appreciated) Done & Done!
Jeff, did you try listening to 610. About half were upset, it seemed. I also asked over 20 random people "on the streets" yesterday what they thought. Most of them were stunned. It is an issue with being fired to most. The media is doing the Rockets a service to not make this a controversy. Rudy is also going out of his way to not make it a controversy. He is a class guy with no ego. He didn't even come close to hinting that he was removed. He took the high road under surely partly because of a condition of his settlement agreement and obviously partly for the sake of the club, as to not make controversy. Rudy was fired. His neighbor called into 610 to make sure everyone knew that. Calvin Murphy said he was "removed." Francis is upset. Mobley is not even talking. From what we know, the CBA was receptive to the Rockets because of Rudy as much as anything. What would they say if the Soup Commander was publicly fired? CD also said that he just heard at 3pm and they didn't have time to even get Les to Houston. We know that is not true because this was known days prior, and leaks like that don't happen without CD knowing. I am a sad fan. I will quickly turn into a pissed off fan if we don't get Larry Brown or Dunleavy. I'm tired of Steve Francis getting the red carpet treatment...and sure, part of that was Rudy being a classy player's coach...but Les is basically using the coach as a scapegoat here if he doesn't land THE top coach, when the bball problem is more Steve Francis thing than what a coach can effect. people can argue with that...but this thread isn't about arguments....this thread is about is there no backlash. Of course there's a backlash, but the media, CD and Rudy are doing a good job of saying we shouldn't look at it as a firing.
preach, HeyP. the only people here who don't see this as a firing are the dumbasses who wanted Rudy gone and who don't want to now feel guilty about the greatest coach this franchise will ever have being pushed out of a window in a tall building by a b****ass Judas owner. Judas Alexander is not even as loyal to himself as Rudy T is to the man who betrayed him.
Are you sure you were watching Channel 2 last night? Maybe you didn't see the Rudy special that came on in place of Leno. They actually had a crew in Dallas and they had interviews with Mike Dunleavy who said he had been contacted by Les and was interested in the position. The also interviewed Peter Vescey (for what that's worth ) who said Van Gundy had not been contacted by Les and didn't know Les. In addition they had interviews with Barkley, Kenny Smith, Moses Malone and Sam Cassell. They also mentioned that Les had contacted DOC RIVERS something I haven't seen anywhere else. Maybe those are just "Joe Blows" to you but props to Ch 2 this time for getting some good stuff.
Free - Thanks for the scoop... I almost NEVER watch 2 for "real" news, choosing to go to mostly internet sources for the latest stuff (especially CC.NET !!). It' s interesting that Dunleavy supposedly "has" been contacted, while JVG, the one everyone is talking about "has not". I'd prefer Dunleavy over Doc. I just think he's got more X;s and O's experience, plus he was a Rocket!! (and maybe in a few more years [after Jr. puts on some muscle] he can bring him to the Rox who will [ALWAYS] need another perimeter shooter...
Actually I wasn't. I was really speaking on a more general level instead of this particular story. I didn't watch any of the local coverage because I thought they would resort to their typical tactics ie. Joe Blow interviews etc. Judging by what you say, mabye I should have! It's just that at 10:35, I'm usually as far away from channel 2 as possible. It's that Leno guy...
I'm not saying that they lead the sports coverage every night it was just funny to see them get called out last night of all nights. I'm sure somone will say even a blind squirrel finds a nut...well, they found a can of nuts last night.
