You aren't going to get more "verifiable facts". He did nothing illegal so nobody is gonna have to testify. Twitter won't reveal if they know whether he was hacked (why would they?). I would speculate that's why he didn't tell the authorities. If he did people would be forced to reveal information. If he was really hacked he would of immediately called the authorities, as opposed to twittering jokes about it 10-20 minutes later.

Besides a confession, what type of evidence are people looking for? Yes the evidence is circumstantial. If I came home with lipstick on my collar that would be circumstantial evidence that I was having an affair. All the same it would be obvious I was guilty, same with Weiner.

I guess that is true. If he doesn't ask for an investigation he is guilty..........of trying to get some.

i don't see it as much of a big deal. She was not an intern, student, relative, underaged.

    statement from @patriotusa76:

I keep saying I would love an investigation because I know the outcome. It won't be me.

I hope he comes after me. Look up my IP. Nothing to hide here.

I'd voluntarily hand anything they want over. Check me and my IP. Anything. I did not post that tweet. Weiner did it.

It could be solved in minutes why is no one but me asking for authorities?

At this point I'm seriously wondering if I can call the authorities myself and ask for investigation.

Whatever it takes to get it started. Fine with me. I just want it investigated. Someone please?

If it's a forgery then there should be a criminal investigation, right?

Sounds like this @patriotusa76 is a pathetic stalker who got his feelings hurt. ----

The woman on the receiving end of the tawdry tweet -- 21-year-old Gennette Nicole Cordova -- said in a statement published in another New York newspaper that she was sure the questionable photo came from a person who had harassed her many times "after the congressman followed me on Twitter a month or so ago."

She insisted that while she's a "fan" of Weiner, she'd never met him in person.

Cordova did admit she once sent a tweet referring to "my boyfriend @Rep-Weiner," but insisted she never was his "wife, girlfriend or mistress,"

In fact, she said, she'd jokingly made "similar assertions" about other public figures, including President Obama; Boston Celtic guard Ray Allen and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

She said the motive of the man who harassed her was "defaming" Weiner."

And she added she's never had an "inappropriate exchange" with Weiner.

Conservatives wouldn't be THAT stupid, would they? Seriously, if something like this is proven to be character assassination of Weiner, then the whole Republican party will look bad, and it will feed the "right-wing conspiracy" that has been floated for 15 years.....

    No you didn't.

So you're warranting and representing that twitter has never been hacked ever?

It's a yes or no question. My answer is yes.

    What's yous?

I never said that. You are saying that to keep from stating your opinion on the entire thing.

Do you seriously think you know more about computer security than me?

"I was hacked" is the lamest explanation ever. Imagine if Mark Foley had tried using that. No one would believe him. For the press to just reprint what Weiner says and take him at his word is ridiculous. Their job is to search for evidence that disproves/confirms what he is saying.

There are ways to identify a hacker. Twitter knows what IP address a tweet came from. What's to stop the hacker from striking again? Why is Rep. Weiner's account still up and running? Why is it still listed as a verified account?

A federal official with a top secret security clearance claims to have been hacked, and doesn't report it to authorities? Where is the FBI?

My opinion is that it is a definite possiblity. I wasn't there so I don't know more.

I do know that hacking of the twitters, facebooks, emails etc is indeed possible - in fact it happens every day by spammers and the like - I probably get a hacked spam email/facebook post from a friend at least once a week now.

I also know that this happens alot to celebs and politicians (Palin?), and that there appears to be some evidence of that here, and the whole thing appears to be the product of a proven liar in Breitbart who likes to scam the public with fraudulent info.

So...that's the evidence that I see. You don't see it because I guess you think twitter hackage is impossible (unclear, you are too afraid to say yes or no....it appears the answer is yes from here....but:)
LOL calmate, chief Jay Strongnuts; anyway good to know the angle of what this is actually about; anyway I'll add it to the things fmullegun can't stand people questioning his interweb knowledge about:

Guns and gunshow loopholes and also loopholes.
    Steroids and working out
    Computer security (above)

Did you kill Bin Laden yourself there jack bauer? Love your work :)

Great. You are following me around then trying to pull extremely broad statements out of my posts. Hacked twitter account is an internet cliche.

Let me list some things I know very little to nothing about

Politics (Never heard of this guy Weiner before)

Laws, process of laws (outside of Texas gun laws I have never read any significant amount of laws)

The above along with GITMO I consider you to be the authority on the BBS.
I am sorry I was so curious about the capture of OBL that I found a small inconsistency in one of your posts but hey, crap happens. This is a political discussion forum, you pwn me on politics. you win.

Well you and Weiner may think sexual harassment is no big deal, but a mature adult would.
