When he refused to answer the question of whether it was him in the photo (hacked or not) it was pretty evident that he was as guilty as Palin is an idiot.
I disagree. Stepping down only puts his seat in jeopardy right now in the heat of the moment in a special election. That could hurt his party. Waiting it out and letting the noise settle could save the seat for his party. I agree that he's unlikely to win a re-election bid at this point. Isn't his district considered to be pretty conservative for NY?
Nope. He was smart. He called every single press organization on the planet (exaggeration) to give an interview where he said he didn't do it and would investigate this hacking, but did not actually take the step of contacting law enforcement. Doing so would have been filing a false report and he would have been in real trouble. Right now the only potential crime he's committed is sexual harassment if that girl wants to go after him. But based on her interviews she doesn't want attention, isn't traumatized, couldn't care less and is ready to move on.

I don't think that the tweets themselves say anything about him. The fact that his denials seemed paranoid and delusional, and seem to match his on the House floor says plenty about him. The Congressman is a little nuts, and it shows. I hope his constituents picked up on it.
Reading your posts around these parts makes me believe you are anything, but naive, though I'm one cynical b*stard. Perhaps there are good public servants out there. I'm guessing they haven't been elected yet.
His tweets show he's a dirtbag. His denials and his irrational reaction to questions that would obviously be asked of him show he's a crazy dirtbag. His belief that he wouldn't be caught makes him a stupid crazy dirtbag.
Do you realize how much butt you have to kiss to get to run for an election? How many egos you have to stroke? You have to basically be the little girl in the Thai massage parlor whacking off fat rich men until put you in a position to succeed. Many go in as honorable servants, few make it to a national election with their honor virginity in tact.
BTW- pgagabriel my post wasnt really a response to your post at all as much as it was a response to what I felt would be defenses/reasons that Weiner should stay. I dont think its about breaking laws/not breaking laws. It's about perception of someone running for public office. I actually think cheating on someone would have been easier, like the Monica Lewinsky scandal. In Weiner's case, he's contacting girls significantly younger than him- we have his texts and the image of his 'junk' been spread around almost everywhere. I cant help but feel that you're allowing your fandom of Weiner obscure an issue thats pretty clear- the picture is everywhere, and images can always be re-hashed when necessary. His texts are public, and more are bound to come out in the coming days, and I can only guess that many will have crude content. He's admitted to 6 girls; chances are that the number was significantly higher. If the money is right, at least one of them will grant tabloid interviews about Weiners relationship with them. In short, this story is not going away.... I know nothing about his district, but if it is pretty conservative, then he's already sealed his fate in that district.
I think his Weiner's wife might disagree. Seems that if he cheats on his wife he is certainly capable of cheating the New Yorkers be represents. I guarantee you his wife isn't concerned whether or not he ran on a platform of family values. Why are you?
i'm not talking about his wife, after rethinking this post he should be criticized over the stupid denials
ROFL ROFL ROFL MY fandom of Weiner? Look, not that there's anything wrong with it, but I'm not fan of Weiner!
Dude, Gerry Studds had sex with a 17 year old male congressional page and retired from congress 15 years later. Weiner will be OK.
I really haven't cared much about this issue but Weiner was an idiot to have denied this so long. As everyone should know with stuff like this the coverup is worse than what is being covered up. He should've just come clean, given a tearful apology to his constituents, his family, Congress and etc. and this thing would've been over last week. Further more I am also continually struck by the lack of self-control and discretion showed by politicians like Wiener. I am not in elected office and don't plan to be yet I am meticulous about what I post on Facebook and while I don't have a Twitter account if I had to I would do the same thing. I just don't get while guys like this just can't keep it in check when so many politicians and famous people have been shamed by stuff like this.
I don't understand how politicians could be so stupid as to assume some random chick they met on the internet won't rat them out to the press.
