Latest Youtube of Ricky. I sure would like to see what he does against NBA competition, Great Britain just let him run around undefended and that won't happen in the NBA.

    22min, 13pts (4/5 FG), 5asts, 6rebs, 5stls, 2to

Even if it's crappy competition, he does appear to have elite anticipation on defense. He also looks quicker than I thought he was. He obviously has A+ court vision/passing skills and excellent length for a PG. Who knows, maybe he's somewhere near as good as the hype...

“When I met Ricky on the court, I knew he had very long arms and I couldn’t play much with the ball or he would steal it from me. He is also very unselfish, he has great passing skills. He is like me, we don’t try to score, and we try to find the open man to help the team.”

    The Kid is amazing.
It looks like he will not be in the NBA this year, but I'm still holding out hope. If not, I'll rue the day a man from Minnesota drafted him -"KHAN!!" (that's my best Shatner impersonation).

I heard that stuff before but I always take those kind of comments with a grain of salt. There are as many cases of players just saying stuff for the sake of saying it as there are honest opinions. If I recall correctly, Paul was speaking to an audience where he was likely to offer positive opinions.

Rubio has some nice skills. The jury is still out on whether or not they will translate to the NBA, or if he'll even come over at all. There are numerous cases of talented/hyped up players, both from here and abroad, that don't end up being anything special in the NBA.

Brandon Jennings says Rubio is all hype. So there's at least one opinion that you know is honest.

For all we know at this point...

Jennings may surprisingly end up backing up his words (I doubt it)

    or

Jennings and Rubio could both be flops

    or

    we may never find out

    etc...

Personally, I'd take Rubio over Jennings in a heartbeat but that's mostly because of how I view Jennings. He seems like a cocky fool who will never be able to accept his inability to dominate as a pro the way he did at the lower levels. I don't see him putting the work in to take his game to the next level. Just my opinion...

Just as I typed that we needed Brandon Jennings' opinion, I realized we already had it...hence my edit. :p

That's interesting because it seems like Rubio has decided he is worth more than an NBA salary so it looks like both are "cocky fools".

Rubio, at 18, has floor vision on par with Magic Johnson. Watch those plays. He isn't rushing the ball up the court. He starts the dribble off the rebound and has his head up the whole way, scanning the court. In some of those plays he's the last or next to last guy crossing halfcourt. But he does the thing that most players won't do, he keeps moving feet and moving the basketball and constantly running the secondary break. Just because the defense gets back doesn't mean they are prepared for a nimble guard to come through the lane that's got a handle, vision, and finishing ability. He keeps the play hot and creates out of it. He has the skills guys. If he gets NBA experience, playing with more athletic NBA players, remember, he is going to be passing to more athletic finishers. Look out. He's gonna be good, real good.

Just an observation: the more a point guard gets compared to Magic Johnson, the more likely he's going to be out of the NBA within three years.

Ricky rubio is going to be a decent NBA player at best, unless he learns how to shoot. IMO, he is way too slow footed to keep up with todays athletes, especially on defense.

He does have great court vision, but that will not be enough.

lol the 2 steals i saw rubio make was because of a bad pass and the point guard not paying attention bring up the ball. you wont have that in the nba. he does have solid court vision though. he wont translate to much in the NBA. at the very best, a mediocre starter (at the very best)

Rookie scale. Rubio's agent knows all about that. He would not be asking for more money from the T-Wolves.

Kahn on the otherhand would/should have known about Rubio's $8 million buyout before drafting him. If he didn't make pre-draft enquiries with potential sponsors. Especially for a small market team like Minnesota. Then this mess is all on him.

Who is to say what a serious comparison is? Practically every tall perimeter player who is perceived to have great passing ability coming into the league draws that comparison.

The issue with Ricky Rubio is that his greatest skill is playmaking, something that doesn't always translate from other levels to the NBA. Great shooting and rebounding usually translate well from other leagues to the NBA but he isn't considered to be great at either of those things. He's a huge gamble. If he can't adjust to the NBA speed he could be a bust.

This video is Ricky Rubio against the Washington Generals and proves absolutely nothing about his NBA prospects. Clearly he has exceptional court vision. But how much of what he does will work at NBA-level speed, athleticism and intensity? How much will he get abused by opposing PGs, especially after they gauge his capabilities?

Every time I watch him, his lack of foot-speed is noticeable. Too much of Euroball (that I watch) is just standing out at the 3-point in open court situations. How will Rubio do in the NBA against tight, half-court defenses when he can't beat his man off the dribble? Can he jump high enough to finish in traffic when he does get to the rim? What happens when opposing PGs leave him stuck in the mud after crossing him over?

I'm not sold on the guy at all. I can see him being successful but I will be totally shocked if he becomes a franchise player in the NBA (or even an All-Star).
