Thanks to David Stern for allowing this to happen. It's just about money man it's not about the integrity of the game. Make touching a guy a foul so that the score can get higher so that more people will watch and become interested. Then "globalize" it to create a greater fanbase for more income. It's about the money.

Rebounding can be a matter of timing and technique. Look at Deke, he can't jump as high as Yao and he's shorter but he gets more than his share of rebounds. We expect Yao to be as good as Deke.

Dwight Howard is shorter than Yao and he gets more rebounds!
Height is not the only factor for rebounding. Stop expecting Yao to be somebody other than himself. He is who he is.

When someone wants to say something bad about Yao, the first thing to say is he is 7 and 6, then mentions the Dream name, then start to say that guy just sucks, you see, he is taller than Dream, and you see what he is doing on the floor, blabla. If you listen to the radios, you should know that.

I'll agree with that. Look what happened when Randolph pissed him off during the Warriors game, that was pure dominance.

On another note, it doesnt help that Yao has t-rex arms that comes along with an 8 inch vertical. So a slow T-rex has a less likely chance of catching his prey, in this case a rebound.

Because everyone keeps referring to him as a "superstar" and my favorite team is trying to build around him, while in reality he's nothing more than a very good role player who doesn't even rank in the top 50 big men of all time.. I understand that, I understand his limitation (both physically and mentally, and by mentally I'm talking about the p&$$# attitude and lack of heart), but Les wants to keep milking him for profits because of the huge market Yao has, and everyone with a pair of eyes can see that this isn't a player that you build your franchise around..

He is easily one of the top 2 centers in the league why would you not want him on your team?

No it is obvious by his effort.

When he puts his mind to it, he is a great rebounder...but far too often he lets his teamates get the board, or doesn't go hard for it.

Yao is far from a perfect player...I love him, but he could rebound a lot lot better.

not from athleticism, it's about position. chuck hayes knows where to get into position, a smaller guy can get a rebound from a taller guy if he seals him early, chuck does this, yao is usually out of position to get the rebounds, he's too far under the goal and doesn't seal his man

Yao could rebound a lot more, but he'd rather conserve his energy for much needed offense. Especially with the way refs let defenders mug him, he needs to save every ounce of strength to fight for post position.

As I mentioned, he puts his mind to it when he's got something to prove (i.e Celtics, Shaq) or when he's pissed off. Otherwise, who cares if Hayes and Scola clean up the boards? Yao's value is his focal point in the offense.

Ya and if he put his mind to it he could score more, assist more, block shots more, make more free throws.......Maybe Yao getting more rebounds isn't what really matters.Maybe.....just maybe other teams gameplan to work him over and keep him boxed out. Which they do, and this leads to guys like Scola getting 17 rebounds. Who cares if he doesn't get all the rebounds and other players on the team get them. Same team.

I think he is one of the hardest workers on the team. Shoot they force him to take time off because he works too hard. I wonder what Rick Adleman would say about the importance of Yao snagging a few more rebounds.

This about sums it up. Its not his boxing out, it's his hands, and his attitude. On the defensive rebounding, he far too often loses the ball as people knock the ball out of his hands. If he held on better, or threw some bows, I guarantee you this would not happen. On offensive rebounding, how often do you see Yao touch or deflect the ball, or get it and lose it? Waaaay too often. I wouldnt not mind him knocking down a couple people trying to get offensive rebounds. Sure, he'll called for a foul. I also guarantee you next time some shorties will get outta his way.

Yao is always around the ball, meaning he's not slow enough to get there. It also means he fights for positioning. It's his hands and attitude that set him back.

It wouldn't hurt him to drop a couple Deke style elbows on the so many guys who try to punk him. Although it's not really in him , its not his style.
