If that's true, that I'm a troll, then who is the bigger fool? You or me? If I am indeed a troll, then you have consistently "fed" me with your banter and "research" about my posting history, quoted me in other posts, and are trying to convince other people that i'm a "liar."

I'm i'm a troll, then you sir, are a fool. If you wanted to look wise at declaring me a troll, then you should not have become the biggest offender of "feeding" the troll.

With every post directed at me, you prove more and more than I control you. Nice try. My new sig says it all.

Good post have considered the tension built up here.
I suggest you guys oughta stop giving responses to those whose threads are merely used for drawing attentions. After all, when the Rockets make the playoff eventually, we will really be able to share the happiness here and more importantly, enjoy a real silence if you know what I mean.

This is the problem with our pick'n'roll: we run it with Yao TOO FAR OUT! He sets the screen, and occasionally he does get the ball back, but he's left with a 20-footer. He can make that shot, certainly, but no doubt the percentage would jump way up if it were from the elbow of the lane, a 15, 16-footer.

Well, I'm not the troll, I'm not the knee jerker, and I'm not the liar.

The reason they let Yao do it, because they do not recognize Yao is #1 option at offence. Completely waste his energy, and turn out to be bad shot by guard. JVG does it to let Steve happy?

If we had a power forward, he would set the screen. That's the textbook. You'd never pull Hakeem out to screen for Kenny Smith. Silentfan is absolutely correct.

Wow, silentfan keeps going on about how it's a messageboard and it doesn't matter, yet continues to insist that "he wins." Even to the point of putting it in his sig. Pathetic and hypocritical? I'm thinking so...

Concerning the actual topic... I don't think Yao is very good at setting screens right now, but he can get better at it (see the Derek Fisher screen everyone's been talking about). However, he can get better, and if he does it would at least create a lot of open jumpers for the big guy, if not necessarily dunks. It's something to keep experimenting with. Yeah, doing it with the power forward may be textbook, but if your power forward couldn't hit a jumper to save his life a screen at the 3-point line won't be very effective.

You're knowningly and willingly feeding the person you consider a "troll" so that makes you an outright idiot. Just admit you can't stay away even though you're supposed to in this situation since you keep saying i'm a "troll." Look at how many posts you have directed towards me in this thread alone while I've actually talked about basketball amid all your useless ramblings.

Another thing, I merely changed my mind when I said I would stop watching the games. If that makes me a liar, then you need to re-evaluate your definition of the concept of "lying" and stop being such a "knee jerker." Look in the mirror every once in a while, I think even in your stubbornness, you can realize you're acting like a child with a personal vendetta.

The new sig is to remind trollers like Codell that thread-crapping on my threads is a sign of weakness, but it's their choice whether or not to heed my words.

    Rhetorical question....

The problem isn't in the picker (Yao), it's in the person using the pick. A person setting a pick, by rule, has to set himself, and not move...if he does so it will eb an offensive foul, and this is called with regularity in the NBA (though probably nto as much as it actually happens). That said, all Yao can do is set-up for the pick...which he does and does well. He is a big, tall and wide body.

Now, it is up to Steve and Mobley to run off that pick better. They have to set-up their defender and then brush right off Yao's shoulder...if they don't do that, which they don't, then of course the defender slips by.

How about this: watch Yao on the pick-n-roll with Jim Jackson, who is a smart, experienced veteran player. Jackson consistently brushes right off Yao's shoulder, frequently resulting in an open shot by JJ or a drive to the lane. The next step in the progression is hitting Yao more frequently on the roll, or swinging the ball real quickly to the top of the key and then hitting Yao who continues to roll to the basket.

The PROBLEM = (i) Steve and Mobley don't understand how a pick should be used - Francis especially, generally ends up in the same place after a pick as he was before (stuck dribbling the ball with a defender right on him), (ii) even when an effective pick and roll is done, if the opponent's defense rotates properly, the Rockets as a team will only continue to pass to find the open man about 50% of the time.

In JVG's defense, all of this is significantly better than last year, where they would only swing the ball well 20% of the time or less.
