    this could be a decent discussion, but you started this thread in a bad way.

    and to your question,

    #1, yao lost over half of his 26 inch vertical after a major foot injury before he came to the nba;

    #2, a 7-6 man needs a bit of extra time to gather himself and jump up;

    #3, a 7-6 man also has a reflex time a bit longer than a normal bball player;

    #4, yao has butter fingers;

    #5, yao has a huge frame so that when someone reaches in, it doesn't even appear to be a foul;

    #6, other reasons if anyone can fill in more.

    now are you educated?

    Pipe, I found it really hard to hold my balls when jumping. To be honest, it hurts. :D

    U don't have to be muscle bound to be strong. The guys that are ripped are repetition guys. Duncan and Barkley are strong,but don't look like mr universe. Core strength is something yao lacks in like most overseas bigs.

    I do wonder if a guy with his unique dimensions has to train in a different way, though. One thing that I've never heard anybody really question about Yao is his work ethic. If there's something he can be doing to improve himself, and people tell him about it, then he'll do it. I have full confidence in that.

    Yao is afraid that if he squeezes the rock too hard, he'll break it. That's why he doesn't rip down rebounds.

    Durvasa - I don't really question his work ethic, but I do question some things that reflect on work ethic. In 1 summer, landry has become a very consistent 3lbow shooter. His lack of strength really bother me some. I know ibm will talk about he's lost vertical from the foot problems, well how do you get a lot of it back? Power cleans and squats. That's why you see a guy like Shawn Rogers who is 6'4 about 380 can hump and rip the screwss out the rim on a dunk. To propel your body off the fround, you need power from your core, abs and quads, transferred down to your toes to lift you off. The upper body strengt also helps too.

    Somebody forgot to tell Shaq about these rules....

    I've said this before and I will say it again.....

    Yao is not a Super star Center, he's a very good center but not a Super star..

    He's not Hakeem, Bill Russell, Wilt, Shaq or Bill Walton..

    Yao's a very good center ala Rick Smits.. Yao works hard and gives all that he has, but unfortunately he's limited.

    Because although Yao is high and strong , he doesn't have too much explosive power,His reaction is slower,his arms are not too long and his hands are small.This is Yao, He only got 2 gifts,which are a hard-working heart and his height

    IT is YAO, we have to admite it. Yao is a hard working guy, I think he will try to do better. But it is more important that Rockets needs to learn from the lessons ,and learn how to use his advantages and how to help him to conceal his disadvantages. eg: wec

    These Rules - that you spoke of earlier

    #2, a 7-6 man needs a bit of extra time to gather himself and jump up;

    #3, a 7-6 man also has a reflex time a bit longer than a normal bball player;

    The fact is a lot of what you stated has more to do about Genetics and being blessed from God. Shaq is 7'2 and he could jump out of the freakin gym... He was blessed with Height and talent to jump out of the gym..

    A lot of people on this board want to put Yao in this Super star Category and I was making a reference to state that Yao is a GOOD center.... Not a SUPER STAR Center..

    So basically I'm saying Yao is what he is...
