All of the above? How about....not being able to put the ball in the hoop......and yet continues to shoot.....or having no ball handling skills.......
Great point on the foul calls. All of it's frustrating. I agree with you on the morals thing too. Ariza has no morals because of some hard fouls? What does that make Tiger Woods or any othe person that's made some dumbass mistakes in their life? My wife regularly gives the finger to people in traffic she deems unworthy to drive, but she's still got morals . Just don't piss her off in traffic.
I honestly have never hated a single player while he was playing for the Rockets. I have gotten angry at them, expressed disappointment and frustration at them but have never gone that far. I do confess hating Antoine Carr before he joined us,and would have never been to stand Karl Malone or John Stockton if they ever played for the Rockets.
I hate a Rockets player when that player is hurting the Rockets team. There are several ways this could be possible. A player can hurt the team by not fitting into how the team is built. Example: Rafer Alston was playing the PG role in which he was required to be a good shooter. The offense was designed for Yao and mcGrady to be double teamed resulting in open looks for teammates. Rafer hurt this offensive scheme because he was a poor shooter. Teams were more than happy to double team Yao/McGrady only to leave Rafer open. A player can hurt the team by not playing the role that their position requires them to. Example: Juwan Howard played the PF role for the Rockets for couple of years. There was no "power" in Juwan. He was a very mediocre rebounder at best. Rockets needed a quick rebounder alongside Yao to counter his slow reaction time. There was no intimidation factor in Juwan. Yao needed that presence alongside him. Juwan did not protect Yao on the defensive end either. Chuck Hayes, on the other hand, plays the Power Forward role on the Rockets and he works very well along side Yao, which is why he was more effective that Juwan Howard in the playoffs against the Jazz. A player can hurt the team by being a distraction and creating problems on and off the court. Example: See Tracy McGrady the last two seasons. A player can hurt the team by being selfish. Example? Scottie Pippen. Also, I dont hate the person. I dont know them as a person to hate them (unless of course they are caught robbing/raping or something). I hate the player. I hate them because their actions are hurting the team I follow and like.
I'd hate someone on a team if I had no real ability to prioritize the truly important things in life. I'd hate if I was unable to control my own emotions and if I let personal immaturity and insecurity and fear get the better of my rational ability to think and enjoy the sports I love. (And I do have personal immaturity and insecurity and fear in abundance in my life, but not enough to project hate where it's inappropriate or irrational.) "Hate" is a strong word, and I can't see it directed by me toward any player on any team I support. I can see "disliking" a player (and that's more likely to be a player on another team). I can see "not respecting" a player for various reasons (whether on one of "my" teams or an opponent). I can't see using the word "hate" -- and really meaning it -- toward any player. OK, wait....I did hate a player or two North Carolina State back in '83, but I've gotten over that. Or have I?
I think the only Rocket I have ever hated was Pippen, but I don't think I have hated any Rocket while they were members of our team. But lack of heart is my biggest trigger to hating someone on the team
You know I completely misread this thread title and poll question. I voted thinking it was asking why a "fan" would hate on a current Rocket and the poll was meant to to describe the hating "fan" and not why they would hate on a Rocket player. My mistake.
You need to add more options for those Yao haters. I don't see the reasons they hate Yao are on the list.
I wouldn't hate someone just because he lacked talent...if he tried hard and wasn't an douchebag then I wouldn't hate him.
There is no reason to hate any Rockets player for any reason! Especially when it is a serious sin to hate anyone. On the other hand one may dislike a Rockets Player. Hating implies evil and should be avoided at all costs.
I have no personal relationship with any of these people, so why should I hate them? Such a strong emotion to have towards people that are essentially strangers.
