Over 75% of the board? That had 45 votes. Unless you think we have fewer than 60 members on CF, your number is way off.
Why would anyone want Ben Simmons here? Some think Benjamin is a good/great player. Some are ready to accelerate the rebuild. And some just want to watch the world burn.
If this team can land any combination of Chet, Smith, or Banchero in next years draft we will be sitting good and better financially without Simmons. What’s nice about those players above is you can put them anywhere in the front court for extended stints - which would compliment a Sengun - Wood pairing.
I know we've been back and forth on this I dunno how many times .... and I've tried to see things your way, but I just can't get there. If this were a more mature team with a proven star you might be able to convince me Simmons is the way to go but this team isn't there yet. I'm not giving Morey a load of assets for a player that's going to elevate the current group to an 8 seed, and now we've blown our the majority of our assets. Now if we were a current 6-8 seed with a quality player or two ... and Simmons pushes us to a top 4 seed, that's a different story.
Pretty sure Morey is not interested in boatload of picks, he wants a player that will help Sixers win during current tight window. He said he wants a top 40 guy but a top 50 player may be enough, he no longer has the leverage and he knows it.
I like Simmons a lot, but him not being able to shoot makes roster building dicey. I know this is blasphemy around here but if I were guaranteed to get Chet, and Wood was still on the team I would be willing to give up Sengun and other assets in a trade for Simmons. Chet Wood Simmons Green KPJ That puts three guys around Simmons that can shoot, Wood wouldn’t have to guard bigs all the time and that would give you 3 really good defenders in Chet, Simmons and KPJ. And of course it’s give you a premier playmaker and would allow Green and KPJ to move off ball and attack more. The length of that lineup would be insane.
While I don’t think Simmons is the long term answer he’s still a nice piece and his value is at an all time low. Sometimes it’s easier to navigate a trade and land a bigger/better piece when you already have a piece with some value. Think Kevin Martin (Simmons) helping to land Harden. I’d take the gamble that his value after 2 years in a Rockets uniform is greater and worst case equal to what it is now. The biggest turnoff with him is Morey acting like he’s the second coming and demanding the moon for him.
You've got balls advocating we trade Sengod, some of his fans are way off the deep end. Might be worth looking into some home security upgrades haha
I genuinely think that leagues will have to come up with a way to penalize players who do things like this going forward if it continues. Otherwise it makes contracts pretty much worthless if players can refuse to suit up for a team who signs or trades for them. That shouldn't be an acceptable option at all. I'm not sure how they could do it and make it effective, maybe clauses that trigger sanctions/banning players from playing or something like that. It's not a good position at all for a player to quit playing to force their way out of a contract to sign wherever they want. Maybe something like if you refuse to play, you then get banned from re-signing with another team for an equal time duration as the time you forcefully sat? I dunno, but something has to change.
I don't get it either. You can't pay super star money to a player that can't shoot a decent percentage and especially a player that is reluctant to shoot. You can't pay super star money to a player that is a mental midget. You can't pay super star money to a player that can't be a leader of your roster. I get defensively he is a star but every other aspect he is a role player salary type player. Offensively he is worse than Westbrick. Mentally he is about on par with #Bewell Rolls-Royce where's my white bus. Be patient and build a championship roster. John Wall will soon enough be gone from the payroll, they maybe able to trade him next year for something of value. Ben will cost someone all most $39M in 2025. John Wall has one more season at $47M. I just don't see Stone getting Ben from Morey.
if the fkn owners/Gms had some scruples this crap wouldnt happen... If someone wants to be an ass and not honor their contract - black ball 'em.... but greedy owners/gms are always willing to take talent on the cheap - failing to see (or rather care about) the big picture... just like women... no matter what they've done - there's always some dude willing to step in and 'buy on the cheap'.... You see women accused of murdering their husband - showing up to court with their new bf... lol!
KPJ is a 33.5% shooter from deep, Green is even worse at 29.1%. Additionally, both players function best in ISO with the ball in their hands. Just exactly where are you expecting them to take their shots and have no one clogging the middle?
Let's assume for a moment that Simmons does not have any personality issues. Do you think Silas will be able to build a system that could use such an odd player? The same Silas who has difficulty in finding a way to put Wood and Sengun together on the court?
If silas is a problem, and I think at times he’s a huge liability…then it doesn’t matter who we have outside of a bonafide super team. Stone cant roster build with the idea that his coach isn’t good enough. If that’s the case he needs to be axed.
