TRUE STREET POETRY? rrriiiiggggghhhhhttttttt . . . Rocket River the things that pass for street poetry these days .. . . . What Next . . Kid Rock - Ghetto SUpa star
Yup, that was a good back and forth battle. I my favorite old school though MC Shan and Marly Marl "thatha Bridge" BDP "The Bridge is Over....Budda bye bye" man, them were tha days.
You guys are a LARK. You have 5000 posts give or take a few and you sit here and act like You are the most sofistikated people in the world! Its like you can't even mention eminem, kidrock, or creed without some guy ripping them. Saying he enjoys "Moby" or whoever just to somehow prove he isn't a 17 year old basement dwelling-Internet addict, magic-marker junkie. IMO, it just makes you look even more pathetic. I can tell you right now, I listen to eminem, i go on the internet 4 hours a day, I live with my parents. I am not a sophisticated person. I am a loser. I know who I am.
Hey moe, What is sophiticated?? Is that the people that use Grey Poupon for their mustard instead of French's?? Oh, and I think we are all losers for spending as much time as we do here. There is no question about that.
Nice RR. Group them together because they are white(you know you did). Kid Rock and Eminem couldn't be farther apart in terms of musical backgrounds. OK, maybe true street poetry was a reach, but there is no denying the guy can write better, truer songs and flow better than 90% of the rap artists out there. Listen to songs other than his rap-pop stuff MTV and the radio likes to play. Check out some of his unreleased stuff or his freestyles and you'll know where I am coming from.
True. I dug his first single from his new album, but damn, they overplayed it so much I don't even want to really hear his voice for a while. Kinda similar to Lenny Kravitz(how many times can you play "fly" or whatever ). I mean, I don't even listen to radio/MTV too much, and I still got sick of it. Next fad song please.
This is my problem with Eminem. He doesn't rap about anything that means anything. Eminem is the Britney Spears of hip hop basically. Tupac makes this guy look like a joke. If Eminem is what rap is about today then rap is dead.
I don't know Manny. Maybe to snooty music critics, but most likely the masses will remember eminem more than Moby based on his notierity alone. I doubt people will be rushing to buy either of those albums in the distant future. "oh, I have to have Moby / Eminem in my collection." There will always be someone to take away the limelight though. Most will forget them both, except for us losers who have already made our opinions on who will be classic.
Do we need Steely Dan to come back and kick Em's ass all over again? Do I need to bust out the Dan-phone?
Of course I lump them together. . . .because they are white They both also suck to me. Eminem is ok at best [Kid Rock is garbage] I'm tired of this HE BETTER THAN 90% of the rest [if you include unsigned and unproduced wanna bes. . maybe not 90% of what is on the radio . . .i don't think so] Stan [his best song .. ] is no where near the OUTKASTS, GOOD MOBs, RAKIMs, or even JAY Zs of the world [ok maybe it beats Jay Z] Rocket River Tupac is the G.O.A.T.
Really? In many cases I have trouble distinguishing when the last song ends and the next one begins...especially on his last album. Most of the non-singles can all be lumped together in my opinion. The singles usually stick out.
I like Eminem's new album, I like Play more. Personally, I think the whole thing is a big act MM put on to sell records and keep the controversy flowing (one in the same). He is starting to annoy me a bit with the antics however. As far as records sold, the BeeGees & In Sync have to be pretty high on the all time list--so if you want to define great music that way, go ahead. What I'd like to see is Eminem makes some cracks about someone of Ice-T ilk. Then hopefully Ice-T would get his butt back to the studio and on tour (Emenem is good in the studio and at shows, but Ice-T is in another league), and then set them up in celeb boxing to boot. I'd watch that. Led Zeppelin was the bomb (and deservedly so) for like a decade, I don’t know of any bands or performer’s since the arrival that I would put on equal footing with them on the all-time great list.
So wait, you are correcting me from something you heard? I think you are just out to get me dunk. On the Eminem note, if you enjoy his music , great, keep listening. I just dont want to listen to someone babble on about killing people and loving his daughter to a beat. It just doesnt draw my interest.
Eminem is like a mean-spirited version of John Moschitta, the fast talking guy who did the FedEx commercial in the '80's. With mommy issues. I've always wondered why someone who is so tediously homophobic has the gayest hairstyle this side of Fire Island, but I guess that must be all that "talent" everyone is referring to. God, he's so edgy! Going after Christina Agulera, the Insane Clown Posse *and* N'sync...oooooh! Triumph, the Canadian power trio *and* the Insult Comic Dog kick little Marshall's pasty, whiny, careerist ass!
