I didn't want him here because I don' think he fits with this team. That been said, Artest still can be a valuable contributor on the offensive end, as long as he accepts the role as a role player. Right now, he tried too hard to be a star player on offense, took too many bad shots and holds the offense flow. Once he gets settle down, play more as a role player, maybe even off the bench, then this team will be fine.

Why are you all saying you didn't want him in Houston?

Lying? I bet 99.9% of you were so excited when we acquired him AND it was like a dream come true to everyone.

But... time needs to pass as team needs to adjust, he's newbie so it will take some time to adjust to offense, defense, team and teammates so as city.

It is a great gamble for Rockets, you get perennial All Star for what like 8.5 million dollars per season?

And plus we have enough cap space, hard cap space to fit similar one like Ron Ron.

Chill out, there are like what 60 games left plus playoffs?

Many of us didn't feel his style fits with what Adelman wants to run with this team before the trade. People over simplified the clash style by claiming his effectiveness under Adelman with the Kings, but they forgot that the Kings didn't have any post players, and they had no bigger names other than Artest, hence he was the focus of their offense.

The Rockets is a different story, they have two stars already with Yao dominating the post area most of the time, which effectively limits Artest's game, reduces him to a jump shooter, and he is a bad one throughout his career. Don't be fooled by his career FG %, a lot of it was from his post playing close to the basket, but he won't have that opportunity with this Rockets team.

The other concern many of us had was his non-basketball behavior, that has proved to be fatal with his previous two teams. No one knows if it will work this time, I bet the Rockets people are very nervous now, praying Artest will behaving in his contract year. But it's a gamble, could be costly at the end.

All I heard when we got him was "he's ghetto" and crap like that.
HE IS A RICH MILLIONAIRE, WTF is ghetto about him?

He can play D, but his shooting is horrible, he drives like a soft player and he can't pass worth a crap.

This team needs to be tougher, granted....... but we have plenty stupid decision makers already on this team.

I like his D but his offense is horrible.

When a player never complains, works his butt off and tries his best, we give him confidence. He has talent. He has heart. So why are we panicking? Give him some time, he'll adjust.

+1. Perhaps many people expected him to come in and kill it right away. That has not been the case but he's everything this poster just mentioned.

It's like you get a job at a new company. You are still training/learning. The boss doesn't get upset though because of your previous work history, ability, capability and work ethic etc. He (Artest) is too good to not turn it around.

I think everyone needs to calm down. We look really bad! Tmac, Rafer, Yao, and Artest are all playing much worse then we expected. Also Battier has missed the whole season except for two games. We have played 65% of our games on the road. We have had one of the toughest schedules in the NBA to this point of the season. Our star players are both playing well below thier capabilities. Ron Artest is shooting 34% The best role player in the NBA has only played in 2 games this year for us. As terrible as all of that sounds, guess what?????

We are still in first place!!!

i only care what he does in the playoffs, that's what was wrong with this team, not the regular season.

this whole artest doesn't fit in stuff is nonsense. of course he's not the ideal player you put next to tracy mcgrady and yao ming. but that's not news. everybody including adelman and morey knew this from the beginning. it was never really planned that artest would see much time with them on the court together. in the 4th quarter or in case of injuries? yes. otherwise no.

artest should go to the bench when everybody is healthy. then he'll have the room to operate in the post and against the usually less talented and weaker 2nd units he'll over-power his defenders even more. his numbers should be fine then. if not, then i'll start to worry.

he wasn't brought in to jack up 20 shots and make 5 of them either. his efficiency is horrible.

i wanted him here too, but at the same time i expected him to play like the all star he was. nobody here will admit that he is playing very poorly. they just keep saying that he is "playing defense" etc

he is a presence and plays great D most of the time. he always plays with heart even though sometimes i wish he would use his brain.

i read some of the sacramento boards and they were laughing because they were all ecstatic when ron came to the kings but then later couldnt wait to get rid of him.

however, i still have faith that he will show up eventually this season and definitely for playoffs.

He's played well in terms of steals (and for the most part hustle plays). I watched him jogging up the court a bunch against the Nuggets and it was frustrating. He isn't the old Artest on defense. At least he has not been so far. Nowhere near a shut down defender by any stretch of the imagination. His rebounding has been dissapointing as well.

As to his offense, what offense? He does the same three moves. He goes baseline and throws himself into the lane (hoping for a foul but typicall getting his shot blocked), shoots a long jumper fading to his left, or barrels right into the middle of the paint almost always resulting in an offensive foul. He's lost out there completely. This is certainly not the guy I saw in Sacramento last year.

I do blame some of this on coaching. Adelman and co. need to be working with Ron to establish his role in the offense. It's the same thing we see every game.
