Talking about the stupid hate... I have a bad news for you. You do not automatically get respect just because you are an old timer. You can get that with time by acting/talking in a civilized way, not the way you post your last message. For the time being, you do not have any more saying than those you called YOF rookies. Sorry.
People only noticed Tim Duncan is how many time defensive player, has won how many rings, but GUYS! Tim Duncan has Ginobili which might be equal or greater than T-quiter and they have a league Top point guide, last season Playoff MVP Parker What Yao has, Rafer Alston and 20 million spent on injuries? Come on, be fair. Nash made the suns, made Marion. Parker delivers ball to Duncan way more confitable to Yao than Rafer. I guess people are just taking things for granted and want Yao to be a star PG, a great SG and be a great center as well.
I WANT to ASK: When built aroud YAO? 2002...2003...2007...Which year? Maybe U can say the last time of 2007...but it's so short.. These days ROCK guys do more perfect things than before...just lack of Fortune..U must remember these happened without T-mac.
Yeah, many fans (of T-mac?) just think of getting everything from YAO. Maybe they're glad to see that ROCKET & YAO win all of other team with LACK of all other ROCK Players.....A Story of "SINGLE YAO vs 29 TEAMS" ?
It is tmac who is carrying this team ever since 2004, it is tmac who steps out when the whole team needs someone to do that, not yao. maybe you can say tmac isnt good at that, but he is better than yao for sure. If tmac is a quiter, then yao never shows up. and td is the franchise player of spurs since the champ in 1999, he carries spurs as tmac carries rockets, though td is better. parker and manu become betteer b/c of TD, spurs can never be a elite team if they dont have td in ther squard.
Man oh man, I feel your pain, and this is probably the most honest post on this thread. But it's not useful. At the end of the day, it's ok to be a Yao fan first and a Rockets fan second. To a lot of these guys, Yao Ming's success is a lot more personal than that of the Rockets - I can understand that. It's annoying, and I say to the Yao fans out there, respect the other Rocket's players. That's all that needs to be done. No, we're not going to trade Yao or T-mac. And there's no point in harping on their failures endlessly. Because they are what they are, and their the best we have. WE can only hope that the other guys get into the flow and Adelman makes all these guys mesh. But let's do ourselves a favor and stop this attacking Yao and attacking T-mac. It's kinda sad to see 1/3 of the board pitted against another 1/3, while the other 1/3 is just turned off by the senseless endless spewing. Man losing sucks.
lmao, T-Mac is carrying the team since 2004 to where? Have we past first round of playoff. True, T-Mac has always been No.1 until this year, Yao wants to take control. Well, I don't believe it would work out for Yao neither, but come on, T-Mac? show your proof when T-Mac carried the team. TD wins how many rings again? T-Mac, any second round playoff. I am sorry, I don't know what do you mean by carrying the team. Back to this season, when we finally played some basketball, when we are on two winning steak, where is our captain? Oops, the guy who supposed to carry is actually injuried, too bad. Yeah, right, we can't have T-Mac, it is like we could afford not to have Yao. Without T-Mac, we might struggle to get into playoff, but without Yao, we would never win a playoff series with T-Mac. Curious without Yao, how the Rocket would be different from T-Mac's orlando team.
To compare career numbers between guys that have about a seven years difference in the amount of time they played is a pretty stupid comparison. You guys are morons, a person that averages 20 points a game is a great scorer, a guy that averages 10 rebounds a game is a great rebounder. Yao's also having a career year in blocks...and last night he had a huge double double and fouled out both of the centers that they threw at him. Yao is doing everything he can and I'm tired of hearing the 'he's soft' stuff, Yao is the most physical player in the NBA. End of discussion. Nobody takes a beating every night like he does, nobody gets less help from the refs than he does and yet he still manages to be a walking double double.
I hate to keep the fire burning, but this statemnt simply isn't true. Is there anyone who watches basketball can actually say yao is fouled more or played more physically than shaq? Go pull out some old rox games and see how thay fouled hakeem all the time. One night hakeem had 48pts and didn't shoot 1ft. Being physical is not only receiving punishment , but also giving it out. I guarantee if Yao would puts someone on their ass or the next time someone tties to reach over his shoulder caught a elbow to the nose, people would stop doing it. mutombo is considered a spokesman for the nba, but everyone in the league knows that wheb he has the rebound, stay away because of those elbows. Physical isn't fading away 2ft from the basket either. Physicall is taking 225lb KG and putting his ass under the nets, getting the ball and dunking on his ass. How can, nevermind.
Whatever... The rockets problem is the head coach...he has absolutely no idea how to use Yao to his best capabilities. And Morey...big mistake bringing him in and letting him make the decisions basketball wise. He is a #'s guy, that's it. Had a poor showing in Boston now has the same effect here in Houston. He knows nothing about talent in the NBA and less about chemistry. What looks good on paper rarely pans out on the floor. We should have kept Gundy in place. We are screwed now.
morey is alright to me. and it was time for cd to retire. morey made moves in the summer that made sense to almost all of us. the pickup on scola had me excited. the draft of brooks looks good now. and most people in the league and we fans thought bringing back sf3 and mj were excellent moves. one thing about morey... i heard him on 610 interview (or was on chronicle?) and said (when address ideas about trading mcgrady), "talent wins you games in this league..." well, no disagreement there. but as a gm, ain't you supposed to also evaluate other qualities of a player such as determination, ability to learn, commitment to the team, etc.? and i'm not talkin' about mcgrady here.
First of all, I should qualified it by saying he's the most physical player in today's game, and yes in the last two seasons he is taking, and dishing out more punishment than Shaq, its part of the reason why he's (Shaq) been rendered useless in big games. Moreover, did you even see the game last night? The play in the fourth where Yao came down immediately and put his shoulder in Garnett's chest to post before the defense could set. Garnett flops, and Yao is called for the offensive foul. This is usually what happends when he tries to assert his size and strength. He has to play with finess, this isn't 1988, no other player can handle him inside. So this whole idea that he's a wuss and all he needs to do is elbow a few people is bullcookies, its one thing to do it rebounding (like Deke) there's a lot of incidental contact, but in the middle of your offensive move you can't elbow anybody, you're gonna get whistled every time. Anyway, don't compare Yao to Duncan, don't compare Yao to Shaq. They're all gonna have different trajectories to their careers, different systems, different teamates, different results. But if your assertion is that Yao is not a franchise player I think you're dead wrong. In fact, I'll go a step further, the whole assertion for this thread is just wrong because we're not "building" around anything, this team is built. There isn't a high draft pick coming, we don't have the cap space to sign another star player or make a big trade to bring a player who is more to your satisfaction (Hey, maybe Duncan will opt out and come play along side Yao for the vet minimum). So when people start a thread just to take a shots at the most productive player we have it gets a little irritating. I for one, see Yao as an invaluble piece to the franchise, and even in the world of internet trade scenarios there isn't another option out there that I would take over him. So please, give me your plausible scenario for improving this team by not having Yao as a centerpiece?
