Absolutely, unequivocably ridiculous. There is no asterisk next to the Rockets championship in the record books. That's a bullshit narrative that some people have which especially makes no sense in 1995. The 1st true championships in Houston were in 1994 and 1995, period.
I didn't live in Houston during the 100 loss years but I did go see the Astros when they played here in Minneapolis then. I even showed up in my Stros Jersey. It was pretty funning seeing Chris Carter with more strikeouts for the 2013 season than the whole mediocre Twins team.
Things I would like to never hear again. "Houston we have a problem.." "There should be an asterisks by the Rockets' 94 and 95 Championship."
I ask my spurs fan friends if you guys had beat us in the playoffs instead of the admiral turning into a seaman would there be an asterisks by that championship too? They really have nothing intelligent to say after that.
I remember attending Colt 45 games: it has been a long road. Win or lose, my heart will always be with Houston. So many wonderful people.
a) **** the haters. We had the greatest center of all time on those teams in an era where centers still mattered. The Rockets were not a pushover. b) Jordan played in the 1995 playoffs. People either don't know or conveniently forget that. The Bulls with Jordan got wiped in the second round by the Magic, who we swept in the Finals. c) Sports Illustrated, as of this year, contends that the Rockets would have wrecked Jordan's Bulls anyway. See here: https://www.papercitymag.com/cultur...ush-michael-jordan-housto-rockets-nba-finals/ --- Keep a red Sharpie on hand to draw a big ole asterisk right on the forehead of anyone who still wants to make this tired argument to you.
Jordan came back the last half of the year He didn't enough time to get get things running smoothly. Once he got things going, look what he did next year.
Get that crap out of here. Jordan wasn't going to beat the Rockets with the front court the Bulls had those years. Grant had left and Rodman had not arrived. Not that either would have made much difference against Dream.
Remember the 1st full year Jordan came back and went 72 and 9. Hakeem , with the same team from year before, lost to Payton and Kemp. Look what the bulls did to the sonics. Hakeem got manhandled that series.
Please can we not turn a thread about how important the Astros and this World Series Win into another debate about whether the 1994-95 Rockets couldve beaten Jordan.
I thoroughly enjoyed the two Rockets championships and I’m going to enjoy this one. I’m not going to second guess what could’ve been.
"We're gonna need a bigger...display case...for this championship trophy!" "Baseball, you have a problem...'cause the Astros have just lifted off and aren't landing any time soon!" "There's a sale at Penney's...on Astros gear!" "How about a game of chess?"..."Later. Let's play Astros Championship Baseball." "Nine men went onto Dodgers stadium field that night...nine men came off...with a trophy!" "They won...straight up. Pay them. Pay those men their bonus money." "It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...it's...a Springer Dinger!" "Remember how I said Yu would bounce back after game 2? I lied."
That wasn't the same team. They picked up Rodman and Harper that year. Learn your history young man. At this rate, you'll soon be posting that the only reason the Astros were in the World Series is because Ruth and Gehrig missed the ALCS.
