Why the term "LOH" should never be used (LOFs, listen up)

You know what. On second thought, maybe I am. :p

Although to be quite honest I stopped caring about the Jazz after DWill/Boozer left.

Let me take this question seriously just for the sake of argument.

Why is it not logically possible that someone would love the Rockets but hate ONLY Lin? In fact I see at least one poster here that can be legitimately called LOH.

That said, most Lin bashers are not really LOH but LOFH. They don't really hate Lin. They just hate LOFs.

That being said, I agree with you on all points.

They're easy to spot because they start new threads to talk about -- not Jeremy Lin, but -- Jeremy Lin fans.

I dont think too much of the LOH terminology either, but really LOF isn't as bad? Both are labels designed to mock the Rox fandom of the target. If you want to see people stop using LOH, stop using LOF and maybe we can have intelligent conversations without resorting to namecalling.

you need more than one or a couple of posters to justify a group.

however, if you are part of the Mario Chalmers group who are looking to defend Lin at all cost, you see everyone who doesn't religiously admire every aspect of his basketball and non basketball characteristics as a "hater".

To me, the mcgrady fans share some characteristics with their hero.
However for Lin, they at least don't share the same laid back, nice guy attitude and of course, vocabulary, IQ, creativity, and basketball knowledge.

The people that are called "LOF" are incapable of intelligent conversations. Which is why they were labeled "LOF" in the first place.

There were YOFs and TOFs, too. Before the LOFs. How many times were Rockets fans called "YOHs" and "TOHs?"

That's true. These fools (or maybe the same fool with multiple screen names?) have a distinct problem between their ears if they have to start a topic in a basketball forum to attack another group of people.

Ironically, this thread is on pace to set the record for use of the term "LOH."

It's pretty interesting to see the responses on this thread vs. when Yao first became a Rocket. At that time, not only was the term YOF fully accepted, but posters actively discussed it. In fact, even Yao fans were talking about how they felt about the team.

Yao and Lin have very different fan cultures. Yao only fans were mostly from China, many of whom did not have good command of English and did not understand the American culture very much.

Lin has a lot of fans who were born or have lived a long time in North America. They are more savvy in using online forums. A lot of them experienced unintentional discrimination due to their Asian identity. Those who don't understand the Asian American experience will probably never truly understand the LOF phenomenon.

I just wish it would all stop & we could just go back to loving all of our Rockets.

What y'all don't understand is that this kid (Lin) is an inspiration to many Taiwanese, for not only making the NBA, but also how he went about it. Schooling is very important to the Taiwanese & the fact that Lin is a Harvard grad as well as an athlete makes him a hero in the eyes of many of the Youngsters in Taiwan...heck, when I was over there looking for Rockets gear, every sports store had Jeremy Lin Warriors jerseys!

So yes, sometimes the hero worship, unrealistic expectations & finger pointing in any direction other than Jeremy Lin's can be a little overboard, it's what folks do when they are in love with their hero's.

Let's all try being nice to our new found Taiwanese fans...they have awesome night markets & super awesome food over there.

LOF's are the worst. Obsessed with a role payer.

The YOF's were far easier to tolerate, because Yao was a superstar. An extremely humble one at that. I'd prefer to deal with them any day of the week, rather than dealing with a LOF for even a simple conversation.

I support Lin as a Rocket, and as a Christian as well. But, his cult following is too much. Hopefully they'll dial it back this season, and we can all get along. The "McFail" thing was hard to stomach, when the guy just lost his daughter.

I agree that 'McFail' is extremely disrespectful, but to be fair, that term has been around longer than Lin and his fans have. That term was invented by 'real' Rocket fans.

LOF > Lebron Only fan> Jazz only fan > Kobe only fan> LOH > Rockets haters> Kobe himself.

    LOF are decent.
