Why the Rockets should think twice about firing McHale (here's a hint: Kevin Love)

Really? Given that superstars are basically the biggest, most important, nothing comes even close reasons why teams contend for championships, isn't this the BEST reason to not fire a head coach?

I honestly have no idea what Kevin Love thinks or if he would think of Houston more favorably with McHale. But umm... Kevin Love is a superstar. And adding a superstar is good for the team. Case in point, Rockets 2010, 2011, and 2012 seasons.

isn't his defense atrocious though? not so sure it's a good idea to pair him with harden due to that. also it concerns me that he's never made the playoffs. not only that he hasn't pushed his team there, but that he has zero experience playing in the postseason. i'm not sure howard's body can wait until 2017 for love to get up to speed on how to win there..

Love is not a great defensive player, but play alongside of Pekovic didn“t help. Look at the numbers when Dieng started playing in starting 5

He doesn't have to be the head coach, put him as director of something under the GM

First of all, Love is not a superstar, all-star, yes, but not superstar.

And even with Love, I won't be surprised if Mchale still make boneheaded mistakes like having Love guarding the star PG for the game winning shot to lose the game.

So basically you're saying because you don't consider Love a superstar, he's therefore not worth pursuing? Have Rockets fans come to the point where players the caliber of Kevin Love, regardless of how one would designate him, is so easily dismissed?

McHale is not the answer. Love knows the guy as a GM, mentor but not a good coach.

Why would any good player waste another year with McHale when you know that he is going to lose a playoff series by himself?

Why would they want to join an organization that hasn't won more than one series in 17 years? Clueless

I would think Golden State and Lakers would be more attractive to KLove than we are right now.

I don't know if someone would rush to play for us because of McHale. That shot of Howard bent over after we lost Game 6 is pretty damning. He went to us because he wanted to pursue a championship only to find out we're powder puffs.

True. You would have thought this team and coaching staff Learned from the first Lakers game when Steve Blake hit the game winning three to win... idiots.

Learned what? Both were extremely low percentage shots - higher percentage that they missed them than made them. We'd all be praising the defense if both had missed the shot.

To have a wide open 3 to win the game, whether it went in or not, is bad defense. My problem with clutchfans right now is NO ONE is being reasonable about the fact that both teams were incredibly talented, young, offensive powerhouses and it just so happens that Portland got the last shot off. It's like Michael Jordan use to say "I never won a game I just ran out of time" the Rockets aren't playing 5th graders. It's perfectly reasonable to be beat every once in a while. Parsons got beat it happens.

If Love comes here: McHale is the Calipari of the NBA.

I think players care more about winning, and if McHale wasn't such a bad coach we could have easily won the portland series.

    There is a divide. Apparently.

We have a coach that has a voice with 50% of the team. He's lost the other half.

It looked very much so in this series.

I don't believe that you can go forward with a team that isn't cohesive with beliefs. You need 100%.

i'm interested in what Morey does from here.

But, yes, there is a divide.
