2 questions to ponder: 1. Do you think Tmacs poor shooting percentage is going to make up a championship team in the future considering how many shots he takes? With the money investedin him, considering recurring back spasms does he have "it"? 2. Considering teams like Warriors,Jazz,Spurs,Pistons,Cavs,Suns, the uptempo new rule changes, the new speed of the game , do you think Yaos EXTREMELY slow footing, slow poor defense, none existant handle, and getting blocked by 5'9 midgets like Nate Robinson is going to make up a championship team considering this team will not add a Boozer clone to play pf to make up for his flaws? put me in the group(small group) that wants a complete overhaul and coach. Go get Adelman. Great defense isnt going to stop the jazz or warriors. Great offense now beats great defense. Get a motion offense otherwise you will get run out out of the building everynight by the faster, more athletic teams. Go get a horse that carries his team in GARNETT. Rebuild . rebuild. rebuild. Passing up Thabo Sefolosha, and Milsap will haunt this team for years. Battier is average on offense. Quit saying he is a "glue" guy. He didnt do much to stop that dagger by ak-47, in fact what the hell does Battier do? Oh, and I told you guys Hayes sucks. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=125193
Considering Yao's vertical is really short, wasn't impressive. And Nate Robinson has hops. Tracy just needs to get his jumpshot back in rhythm. He drove to the basket a lot more and showed good signs. And You mentioned Spurs for uptempo teams...? I'm Impartial on Battier though. Don't know what to say about him. We could use a more athletic SF though. Chuck Hayes SUCKS? BLASPHEMY!
how is spur & piston in that list?............ and instead of bashing the team and everyone, how about you come up with some idea to make this a better team? Right now, your just beating a dead horse.
The problem isn't Tracy and Yao. Those 2 can dominate their positions. The supporting cast needs an athletic upgrade.
if we were in the eastern conference we would get to the conference finals with our heads in our asses and possibly the finals..just the way things turn out...
1. Tmac's poor shooting percentage can be attributed to the fact that stopping Tmac's offense is the #1 goal on every team's defensive gameplan against the Rockets. Out of the past season's starting lineup, Shane Battier posed a real threat from the outside...and that's just not enough of a threat to smother Tmac. Who's he going to pass it to? Yao? That brings me to your next point... 2. Yao struggles and commits turnovers because of poor spacing. In addition to that, the post up options that Yao is involved in are way too predictable. When Yao caught the ball in the post throughout the regular season, I'm sure every fan had 4 or 5 visions of how that play would result in. Yao has great handles for a 7'5 guy (he can even go behind the back haha). The reason he looks so bad is because that dribble is a long way from the floor to his waste. Besides, I don't think I want to see Yao dribble the ball around the perimeter anyway. Sure, Yao is not the quickest guy on defense, but he can hold his own when healthy. don't let the Jazz series fool you, Boozer is no slouch, and don't forget the fact that Yao had freaking broken leg earlier this year. You remember Shane Battier's shortcomings, but you neglect his charges, key shots, above average defense? The Rockets played a bad series with bad matchups. I think we need a new coach as well because JVG has too much pride to adjust and his offense is way too predictable (one of the major reasons for Tmac and Yao's defficiencies in my opinion). Role players are a must as well, but I think Yao and Tmac can deliver a championship to Houston given the right situation. On an ending note, an uptempo offense does not mean a great offense. A well run half court offense is more than capable of beating an uptempo offense. A great offense is a great offense... it doesn't matter if it's in a half court system or open court system.
I would like to admit here I have bashed Yao quite bad last several days. I have so much anger and disappointment, only because I liked this guy a lot. Now I think I am much calm and want to look at Yao uder a more objective light. Looking back, I think Yao had a pretty good regular season. Prioro to his injury in Dec., he continued his path of progress. Offensively, he has continued to polish his post moves, spin drive, turn around j, baby hook... all improved compared to last season. Defensively his lateral movement was faster too. His weak side help defence and PnR defence also were better than last season. Then come the injury... I guess he did himself a dis-service last year by coming back so strong after injuriny. This time around, we (at least myself) expected the same "miracle". But unfortunately it did not happen... If anything, his condition was much worse than prior-injury: his lateral movements were much slower. He seemed to be forced to take some moves out of his offensive arsenal, most notable is his baseline spin move. What I am most disappointed is the mental weakness he showed during the playoff. After experienced some major competitions on the world stage, he is still easily rattled by the opponent. But looking long term, I believe his determination in improving himself will help him to prevail. Ok, big guy, I think I have convinced myself I still should have faith in you. Please, don't let us down again...
I personally like them individually and not necessarily together. Yao is great, he just needs to be mentored and stop playing for China. I'm sorry all YOFs, Yao would be a heck of a better player if he had an offseason. I think TMac is very explosive, but my beef with him is that he doesn't seem like a leader. I was really impressed by him and the whole "It's on me" crap, but it didn't amount to much. Both players are missing a catalyst, a Jordan if you will, someone who can elevate them to a higher level. Some players are inherently losers, some just don't find enough winners to surround themselves with, I see TMac and Yao as the latter.
Tim Walters...take a seat my guy...easy does it, easy does it. Now lets slowly re-establish ourselves by clearing our minds and previous thoughts. Good Job...
I think it was a JVG comment in which he said that you have to surround TMac and Yao with pit bulls for them to be effective. Sura and Barry were the team's last pit bulls. Yao and TMac have temperaments that are too much alike. This team needs a hard-core bad guy, a relentless driver-rebounder with a mid-range shot, an in your face competitor. This team lacks FIRE. When the Rockets "get all fired up," you can't even tell it. Too bland and predictable.
Whemn tracy has 3 jazz players gangbanging him and has to score, pass, rebound and play defense, it's no suprise the guy has no energy to even shoot a jumpshot. we got to get a PG who can setup the offense and takesome of the burden off tracy.
Uh you guys do realize that this timwalters character is just trolling right? If you do a quick search of his other posts, you'll notice a pattern of him posting a provocative and/or inane response or suggestion and then never coming back to defend his point.
AMEN TO HIS POINT....no not really, this character must live under a rock.. i swear i think he's a jazz fan...
