Why the hate for Vince?

Exactly. I only dislike him because of the people who can't stop talking about him on the forums. Everytime something about Mario, or the Texans is being discussed he is brought up.

I didn't vote, because my option was there.

 

I should add that just because some people don't think Vince is the greatest qb in history, doesn't mean they have hate for Vince.

He has a chance to be a great player, we'll see how he improves, etc.

His passing stats weren't exactly spectacular this year (yes, I know that you have to look at more than just stats to be able to see the whole picture as far as if he had guys open, etc). I think how his passing improves will obviously play a big role in how good he is in the long run.

Can he become a great passer? He is only a rookie so he certainly has time to keep improving. If he does, that with his running skills, would give him a chance to be a great player.

 

You're right, the 8-8 Oilers are so much better.

 

Last 3 years the Oilers were 17- 31.
Last 3 years the Texans were 15-33.

Look, I'm going to stop bickering and give you an honest answer to your initial question. If you choose not to accept it then you're being close minded and will will never accept any answer, however true it may be, that you don't like.

I really don't hate VY. Despite not being a UT fan, I rooted for VY and Texas in the Rose Bowl. I didn't want to draft Bush, I thought he was overated. VY's draft stock rose DRAMATICALLY after the Rose Bowl. I though he was overrated. I wasn't in favor of drafting him. A lot of people started bombarding the BBS with Draft RB/VY threads. Most VY fans didn't have an objective view on him. He was from Houston, he played for the Longhorns, that was enough. Any actual thought out objective analysis could not be made. Not that VY didn't have skills/potential but the VY fans made unreasonable assumptions/predictions and became very annoying very quickly. The same happened with the Bush fanatics.

Texans drafted Mario. Whatever, has no bearing on my feelings on Vince.

VY doesn't play for the Texans.

I don't care that he's from Houston. A lot of people from Houston have played professionally in different sports. Nobody was starting tread after thread on Clyde Drexler when he was with Portland. After initial anger and disapointment, continuous threads about Rashard Lewis did not bombard the BBS.

I don't care that he went to UT. I didn't. I went to UH and Texas State. I'm not going to start a thread on Kevin Kolb and his pro prospects. I hope he does well and I leave it at that. I did go to school and play basketball with Rashard Lewis and I STILL don't talk about him at every opportunity.

I don't care that he plays for Bud Adams and the Titans. If the Titans had passed and the Jets drafted him it wouldn't change a thing.

The Texans drafted Mario. Not Bush, not Vince. MARIO. What could have been is what could have been. It's over with. The second he was not drafted by the Texans it was done. He has NO association with the Texans except for the fact that he was one of 200 people not drafted by the Texans in the 2006 draft.

VY has NOTHING to do with Texans but somehow his name keeps being brought up in Texans threads. It's unneccesary and consequently, annoying. The retaliation is VY hating. It's not because of Vince. It's because of annoying Vince fans. If there were thread after thread about Matt Leinart you'd see the exact same thing about him and might be wondering about all the Leinart hate.

Over the course of the season, as the posts about Bush diminished so did the apparant Bush hatred.

Bottom line: People from Houston play in the NFL, NBA, MLB. If they don't play for the Texans/Rockets/Astros then I don't really care and don't enjoy seeing off-topic posts concerning that player. A lot of people do not play for the Texans/Rockets/Astros and shouldn't be talked about in discussions regarding those teams. If somebody kept talking about Derek Jeter in every Astros thread people would get pissed off too. Yes, VY is from Houston and the Texans passed on him. SO WHAT! It's over. VY has NO REAL CONNECTION to the Texans and therefore, should be left out Texans discussion. The failure of that to happen is what pisses people off and causes the Vince hate.

I don't like to root against people. I'd much rather root for my team than root against my opponent. But I hope Vince fails. Not because I hate Vince, but because I want the annoying VY fans to be sad. It has absolutely nothing to do with Vince.

Simply put. You are annoying. You are SO annoying that I dislike you. You like Vince. Therefore, I hope Vince fails. Replace Vince with any player. If you were as annoying with Jay Cutler then I'd hope that Cutler would fail. VY fans are just that annoying.

Honestly, I don't so much mind the VY Hangout threads. It's the infiltration into the other forum that's annoying. If all VY posts were confined to the Hangout I think there would be less hatred. Not all gone but definitely less.

 

I didn't like VY at Madison...the closest HS to me is North Shore HS who the Marlins beat.

I didn't like VY at UT..I have hated UT since they were my Houston Cougars SWC rival.

I don't like VY now as a member of the Tennesee Titans...my Houston Texans division rival and the team that used to be my Houston Oilers.

I don't care about VY's wonderlic....I don't care that he is African-American, I don't care if he is or isn't "articulate"...I don't care if the thing that makes him a decent QB is "athleticism" or "leadership".

Put him on the Texans and I will root for him to my last breath...Like I did his fellow T-Sip Earl.

I agree with some of your other posts, but this is flat-out wrong. I guarantee to you that, if tinman and his merry crew were somehow to be banned, many posters with connections to Texas-based schools not called UT would still go out of their way to hate on Vince in threads. Such is the nature of rivalries and jealousy. But I personally don't mind, because I know that if the fortunes of Vince Young and Reggie McNeal turned out differently, I'd expect the same type of haterade posts... except from the UT crowd instead. No one is immune here. *shrug*

Seriously, stop responding (i.e. ignore), and the problem will go away. Instead, the lot of you has decided to mire yourself in a Middle East-style "I-just-can't-help-myself" back-and-forth war in which everyone loses. And no offense, but I've got my money on tinman winning this war of attrition, because damn, that guy just doesn't know how to spell the words "quit", "annoying," and "fortheloveofgodpleasestop".

 

He did win games this year, so I have to give him some credit for that for sure..... how great he will be as qb we will find out as he gains some experience.

He could develop into a great passer or he might end up an average passer, but have other great skills that help him when even if not one of the best passers in the league. We will see, too early to say yet.
