Rollin, you blind fool, read the freaking question again. I vote that because I think THEY HATE HIM like THEY HATE JACKIE ROBINSON I think people hate Vince because there's racism involved. ENGLISH M#$#$#$$! WHAT??? WHAT AINT A COUNTRY I EVER HEARD OF!! SAY WHAT AGAIN!
Usually people do that just to do it but don't really mean it but then again they could really feel that way.
The option for... hate him because tinman and others won't shut up, get off his jock, and let the rest of the world get on with their lives without taking every opportunity to publicly masturbate to an effigy of Vince. ...is not available. I therefore abstain from voting until that is fixed. None of the other options even remotely comes close to describing why I feel so much antipathy for the Vince Young, or rather the members of the Church of Vince.
not really, Black QBs always have had to face racism. Do you remember what Rush Limbaugh said about McNabb? Why do you think that Doug Williams winning the Super Bowl was significant?
Ottoman, sit down. Its not about the haters on this board, its about everyone, Merrill Hodge etc People like to talk about Vince, just like People talk about Yao Ming every day.
There are many reasons why people hate him so you can't label everybody that hates Vince as being racist. Some people don't like UT, Vince fans, the Titans, he's black, etc....
I see this same phenomenon over at the Titans board which there is unrelenting mockery and hatred expressed toward Peyton Manning. I don't know if it is just fueled by the Indy-Titan rivalry but it definitely kicks it into overdrive. It wouldn't surprise me to see the anti-VY momentum grow to those proportions in the coming years.
great analogy, Peyton Manning. I actually worked in Nashville a while back, they have pictures of him in the Bar-Q joint down there. they still love him, no one hates him cause he plays for Indy. I think its race. would it be different if T-Martin (remember that dude?) was any good and went to Indy. Would he get the hate from Nashville fans? Here's another one. Remember Kordell Stewart? he made the freaking pro-bowl with the Steelers, people hated on him like crazy (when he was good). Rothesburger is a idiot for riding his bike without a helmet, but everyone is happy with that!
Actually my observation lends itself to proving that it is not about race at all because these online Titan fans just seem to hate Peyton Manning-- and he's not black. They mock him as a loser and a choker etc. Maybe it's something about the anti-social nature of extreme computer nerd/sports fans?
No more annoying than those that go out of their way to show that they don't like him. When I see a "What music are you listening to" thread I don't b*tch and moan about it, I just don't click it. It's not that hard. If you come to the problem, you have no right to complain about it.
Why do we like or dislike certain athletes or people? Sometimes it's racism. Sometimes it's prejudice (which many people actually mean when we incorrectly term it racism). Many times it's something else completely. The danger we run into is presuming it *is* about race without anything else to go on but bare inferences. Some may not like Dirk Nowitzki because he plays for the Mavericks and not us. Some may not like him because of his race. Others may not like him for completely different reasons. Some may not like Vince Young because he plays for the Titans and not us. Some may not like him because of his race. Others may not like him for completely different reasons. It's patently unfair to allege prejudice or racism based on speculation. It's socially irresponsible and does nothing but perpetuate a societal conflict that, unfortunately, probably will never go away.
Oh the race thing happens. http://espn.go.com/gen/news/2003/1001/1628537.html Negative reaction did not come immediately. But on Tuesday, McNabb told the Philadelphia Daily News: "It's sad that you've got to go to skin color. I thought we were through with that whole deal."
Some of it is doubtlessly because people are annoyed by a few of his fans. Seriously, I love Vince Young and I'm annoyed by tinman. Some of it is sour grapes. Some people didn't cheer for him in college, so no change. Some people don't like players on divisional rivals of the Texans. Whatever the reason, I don't care. Vince is awesome and will be a spectacular player in the NFL for years to come.
