Why the Focus on our Backcourt?

You are totally wrong! Game 7 has nothing to do with it. The whole 7 game series has to be looked at. Terry & Stackhouse abused our guards the whole series because we flat out could not guard them. Understand? It's NOT all about Game 7. Our starting guard play was pathetic the whole series. After an 82 game season, older players decline and break down more than younger players. If we keep our starting backcourt, they will wear down again. If the NBA season was only 35 games like college, age wouldn't be a factor. The long grueling season is one thing that separates the NBA from all other basketball leagues.

To your point, Sura & Wesley were great during the season when both were healthy and spry. But they will let us down in the playoffs again next year if we are foolish enough to retain them as starters. I don't mean to disrepect either player. Their toughness and effort is admirable and we got better when both joined the team, but we cannot ride them to the next level.

You know what: i'm grateful for what Sura, Wesley, and James did for us. Without them, we'd probably be talking about how we stole Green in the draft because we probably wouldn't have made it into the playoffs.

But reality is reality: we already peaked with them as the corps of our backcourt.

Maybe some ARE too focused on what happened in Game 7. But what about the first two games? Sura, James, Wesley, Barry all played phenomenal. I kept thinking to myself: "man we better ride them as long as we can because they can't put up this kind of shooting exhibition every night". We had all those guys running on every cylinder imagineable and at the end, they ran out of gas.

I like them all but we need a new/better backcourt. I have no trouble having sura, wesley, james, or barry coming off the bench but we just need better players.

Good example? T-wolves. They stood pat from last season and look where it got them? :D

Not a realistic option. We all know that.

I just needed to find a place to say...every time I watch Sura throw Josh Howard down in Game 6, I really really hope we still have him next year.

Gotta say that I agree with everyone saying that we need a new backcourt...and NO IM NOT BASING THIS SOLEY ON GAME 7.

Dont think anyone has mentioned that we have a clusterfck of extremely similar players at the 1 and the 2...yet another reason to stir things up, we are too deep at these positions and the collective results aren't worthy of FIVE ROSTER SPOTS.

is there anyway we can do a sign and trade for wesley to get dermarr johnson... i bet denver would bit on this just b/c they need more shooters on the team and perimeter defense. all of which wesley does well. not great... but well.

i really like dermarr johnson... he would be great on this team off the bench at the sg or sf position. we lack size and atheletcism.....and he mos def brings that to the court. plus hes cute
