610 just started to talk about the Rockets......thats only cuz playoff time is coming around...they won't ever talk NBA/Rockets unless there is a guest on the show. Matt J, Mark, and Lance do a good job talkin about basketball. the other two Jon and Rich aren't really experts in basketball.

wait...they just got done talking about the NBA and Rockets...and there was NO guest on the show.

i'm surprised they talked about anything but the Astros and college hoops given the sports environment today. day after national championship...opening day for hometown team.

Lots of people like NBA basketball. Lots. I think more than golf. Just didn't vote in the poll.

I think that NBA playoffs ratings are higher than golf..

Teams draft based on potential not skillsets. That's the problem with HS kids coming out. It's not there's no longer a need to make jumpshots or pass.

Remember a couple of years ago when Texas high schools kids Ebi Nbudi and Kendrick Perkins chose the NBA over college basketball. Instead of honing their skills playing college ball, they're sitting on the bench. They would be much further in their development if they played in college. This type of situation hurts the game.

Just because you can skip college doesn't mean you should or it's good for the sport.

Up here in Boston, watching Al Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins struggle is painful. Sure you can see the potential but why should people pay good money or spend hours in front of the TV to see potential? Wouldnt you rather see a much more polished, ready product?

Plus with so many HS kids jumping for the NBA, you create a lot of waste. How much is Tyson Chandler or Eddie Curry worth? If you make the wrong choice your salary cap situation is screwed for years.

So let's say you give Eddie Curry 15 million/year after watching a typical 18-20 year old go through their inconsistencies. Now what? For every HS player mistake, it will cost the team and ultimately the fans of that team, and ultimately fans in general.

Sure you can make the mistake on kids who went to college but you have much more information on them in college against division 1 talent than highlight reels against Bellaire HS in Houston, Texas.

And teams have to play the kids because how else will they know how much to offer them (or let them go) after their rookie contracts expire? This leads to an incongruent mish mash of veterans with 19 year old kids on the same court with different agendas creating a less fun product to watch.

The problem will only get worse.

    Too many games
    and
    Too many teams

If there were 70 games with the same length of time, players wouldn't fall apart right now and each would matter more.

If there were less teams, then the rivals would have more games to play against each other to develop real hate and make a better playoffs. How can you hate a team when you meet each other 4 times in the regular season?

Getting rid of both won't be possible because of money.
